For example would it have been better to raise the fences here at home to make it more difficult to become an American citizen, we could have kept our troops at home defending this country and we could have kept our money inhouse?

Chicken George and the other idiots in the Whorehouse could have listened to Wesley Clark and all the pre-9/11 warnings left behind by the Clinton administration.

They *knew* the attack was coming and either were stupid enough to let it happen, or opportunistic enough to LET it happen, thus justifying an invasion of Iraq. Given the US's attitude toward 600,000 civilian deaths since the invasion and the deporable treatment of their own soldiers at the Walter Reed Hospital, as well as Chicken George's own glee at signing the execution papers of over 150 prisoners in Texas, it's not unreasonable to assume these scumbags were willing to let thousands die in the World Trade Centre.

- from "REBUILDING AMERICA’S DEFENSES Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century", published by the "Project for the New American Century" (PNAC)

The PNAC advocated declaring war and invading Iraq in 1998:

They knew those statements to be false then and now.

When you hear that phrase, "Project for the New American Century," think "Reich of a Thousand Years". The membership of the terrorist organization PNAC include:

- William Kristol, warmongering right wing mouthpiece

- William J. Bennett, addicted gambler and taker of bribes

- John Bolton, who advocated terrorism against the UN

- Zalmay Khalilzad, shill for oil companies in Afghanistan

- Richard Perle, advocate for war profiteering

- Dumb Donald Rumsfelch

- Paul Wolfowitz, war profiteer and embezzler

- R. James Woolsey, paid murderer and terrorist as head of the CIA

Well, it's no surprise that we instantly responded with vengeance. That is always someones first notion after a homicide or genocide, as occured on 9/11.

We went into Afghanistan to find Osama Bin Laden without, in my opinion, ever fully investigating the tragedy and coming to rock-solid conclusions.

Are there things we could have done differently? Many.

-We could have used the Good-Will and Unity and Sympathy that the rest of the world displayed and used it to forge better relationships abroad. Strengthened ties with people we formerly considered enemies and bonded new friendships with countries that desperately need a friend like the U.S.

-We could have examined our national security more carefully, and instead of instituting useless measures like a color coded "terror threat" warning and airport security on sterroids, we could have started watching our land borders more carefully and making sure we carried on with our daily lives, undaunted and unafraid.

-We could have investigated the attacks more carefully, under a more powerful microscope, and relalized that everything was not exactly as it seemed, or exactly as the mass media may have portrayed it.
(although two planes undoubtedly hit the WTC buildings, physical evidence PROVES that there is no possible way an airplane hit the Pentagon.)

-We could have listened to CIA warnings more seriously in the months before the attacks, and had the Airforce on strict strategic watch of all major airport hubs.
(Where was our airforce on 9/11? The most powerful air force the world has ever known, and we couldn't respond for over 20 minutes?! Something there doesn't fit.)

So there are many things we could have done smarter, and with a little more tact. 9/11 changed the world, no doubt. It changed the worlds perception of the United States and it's role in the world, but it also brought us together. We failed to appreciate that, and that was definitely something we could have done differently.

Yes We could have done what you said, more americans have been killed in Iraq then were lost in the WTC attack. As far as immigration and natrulization, well the INS is a joke.It has been estimated that 2000 or more illegal mexicans cross the border everyday. And to our north, there are places where they ask you to stop and call immigration, but there is no one there to make sure you do.My wife works with some1 who came on a raft from cuba, When the visa ran out they worked for 2 yrs at mcdonald's gaining pay, racking up social security money, getting food stamps and medicaid. After INS found her she got 6 months to becone a citizen!!!!!!!

I think we did the best we could with the information we had at the time. We DID attack terrorists in Afghanistan pretty quickly, but when it came to invading Iraq, things got a little cloudy. I don't really blame anyone, as I can understand why the govt did what it did.

We theoretically could have reacted differently, but how do you react to something like that? It took me three hours to fully understand what was going on.
