I would think very dangerous. From what I see on TV, contractors get kidnapped all the time. Especially now, when nothing is clear with Bush.

Think about your family.

contract security work particularly is very dangerous. The most dangerous road in Baghdad, the road from the airport into the city is held by patrolled by contract security.

They are wounded / killed as often as the military, but you don't hear about it as much as on the news. They are normally housed outside military compounds, and are kidnapped frequently.

Depending on the firm you sign on with, depends on the gear you get. Since they are trying to make a profit, they do not have the latest security gear, (cost eats up profit) or they expect you to provide your own gear and equipment. Tax-free earnings aren't worth the risks.

Is your drive for tons of money as important as your fear to not go battle grounds to earn it. My son n law makes fresh water 4 the troops in hot spots. He feels good about helping out the men and women who are dedicated to fighting for America. I would go but I am female, too old, too weak and too senile. But Go for the gusto. We will take care of the wife and 3 dogs. He is ex military and a Alabama hillbilly. Don't push him around. LOL We really need to pull out and let them blow up their own people and work on repairing all the personal damage and economic strain this has called. We as Americans demand we be number one for a change.

You chances of getting killed , or mamed are very good. Common sense will tell you that if you are in harms way, you are most likely to get hurt. There is much better work around, with much, much lower risks.
