C'mon, virtually everyone disbelieves in every god ever created, except one....and you argue over which one that is.
I just disbelieve in one more than you do, my fellow atheist...and for the same reasons that you and I both don't believe in all those other gods.

I understand the differences between an atheist and a theist quite well. I was just curious to see how hard theists would push to make some distance between us.
Thanks.

Everybody is born atheist, except for the three-legged and the potato-sacked race!

And yeah, everyone is atheist towards any god we don't believe in

That is absolutely correct. People who are atheistic towards Yahweh go only one god further than Christians.

By the way, I see that a LOT of people here misunderstand the meaning of "atheist". It doesn't JUST mean "nonbeliever in the God of the Bible" and it doesn't JUST mean "nonbeliever in absolutely every single god concept known to man". An atheist is simply "without belief in a god or gods".

For example: while Christians do believe in ONE god, they are WITHOUT belief in all the other god concepts out there.... they are therefore ATHEISTIC in regards to those other god concepts. Another person may believe in the gods of the Roman pantheon but be without belief in all other god concepts (including Yahweh). This person is also an atheist of sorts.

This is correct! Most have heard the saying like "we are both atheist, I just happen to be atheistic in re: to one more God than you" (not verbatim, just the basic idea). So now can we bash all those religious people on here who have ever said that atheists are evil and immoral people?

Many Christians get confused and think that atheism applies only to God (the Christian God). That's not so!

Atheist means that you don't believe in the possibility of any god existing. It does not work on an individual basis. That being said, I do appreciate your line of thought.

Unfortunatly, there are a lot of people that don't belive in God. I am not one of those. I do believe in God and Jesus and I am proud of it too! I think it is awfully sad for those that don't believe in Him. I hope and pray that someday you will learn the truth.

Besides that...what is wrong with someone believing in God even if you think he does not exist? If believing in God makes someone happy and gives them peace, what is wrong with that? Why try to take that away from those of us that truly DO belive?

If you don't want to believe, don't celebrate the Christian Holidays..Christmas, Easter...all of them. Leave the rest of us to our traditions and beliefs and stop trying to make us change by changing the names of our holiday's (like Christmas Vacation or Easter Vacation to Winter or Spring breaks/partys etc.).

I know more people that believe in God than who don't. In fact, I have only ever known one person that didn't belive and she was a very bitter and unhappy lady.

No, that just means I believe in one God. I don't argue with anyone who believes in Gods or Goddess, that's their right. They may be right, who knows? An Atheist believes in NO higher power whatsoever. Get a dictionary.

And if you're an Atheist, wouldn't you capitalize the word? Hm....
