Allright, having gone through Great Mistakes some 4 years ago.. .here is the deal...
The first week is called "P" days... "Processing" The first night there is the worst. As long as P days continue, training doesnt really begin. IT could last 4-7 days. You march from one building to another getting all the things you need to get done. For the first week, you walk around in sweats. After the P days get done with... then the physical training begins... as discipline mostly. If your division were a bunch of idiots during P days... you WILL pay for it the next few weeks. They pull any wisdom teeth you still have around week 4-5... and yes.. you will spend about 48 hrs max high on vicatin in your rack. If your pulling your teeth is complicated, then... you will get it done later, usually at you firsst duty command, or your follow on school after boot camp.

The first week is in-processing... If your wisdom teeth need to be pulled, they may do it then. Some happen later. They'll also run you through some protocol information... how to address superiors, the rank structure.. housekeeping types of things.

by the way... I HIGHLY recommend you get your wisdom teeth pulled by a civilian oral surgeon before you go to basic training. Basic is tough enough without the added burden of either missing a few days of momentum then getting back to your training while your mouth is swollen and aching. Besides.. it'll give your mom an excuse to baby you for a few days before you leave.. :)

Ha, your first few days of boot camp will be amusing, you'll be in a state called "P days" where you're going to do everything you did at MEPS medical wise again, all the blood tests, hearing exams, eye exams, etc. You'll also have to walk the gauntlet of Corpsman giving you shots.

Your first night there, more than likely, you won't sleep, because once you're in the P day barracks, you'll start learning how to make your rack, how to stencil your uniforms, etc.

However, boot camp for the Navy these days is pretty easy. I remembered when we had to march everywhere, now your galley and classrooms are in your barracks.

they throw you right into the thick of it. as far as the wisdom teeth thing if you can afford it i suggest you get it done and heal BEFORE going. you only get 24-48 hours rest after the surgery when you're in naval boot camp (my sister went into the navy and she toldme all about that). i just had mine out and i was weak for almost 5 days and had a lot of pain. i can't imagine having to try to run 5 miles and all that other crap that soon after the procedure! i'm guessing you are each going to be scheduled at different times for the procedure. if your wisdom teeth are grown in then you won't have any problems my top ones were in and they haven't given me a bit of trouble. good luck!!!

I didn't get my wisdom teeth out ill I got to Virginia. Dont count on any dental work there. If you get there in winter, its cold as hell. Wind whips off Lake Michigan pretty strongly . Navy boot camp , as a whole , is pretty easy . As long as you can make a bed , fold your clothes , and march , the rest is easy

You learn the meaning of "There's 3 ways of doing something, the right way, the wrong way, and the Navy way."'

You learn to hurry up and wait.

You'll love getting up at 4AM to watch the sun rise.

If you arrive there in Feb or March, you'll enjoy the cold weather, as you stand at attention and freeze your b****s off.

You will enjoy the adventures in fine dining,
SOS at 5 AM, and be grateful there's no way to screw up milk and cereal.

You'll learn there are 2 sizes of clothing, you'll grow into it, or you'll lose weight.

Once you're out of there, you'll laugh your tail off whenever you thnk of it.

As for dental, They won;'t do anything if you have no problems. If you do, go on sick call.
you have an opportunity for this every morning.

Well, you report and fill out paperwork and write a postcard to your relatives to let them know you made it there safely. The first week is indoctrination, you meet your CCs, learn to march, meet the Chaplains and other important people. You also get and stencil your uniforms. You do visit the dentist for the check up and they will schedule you later on for any dental work you might need. You also go to Medical to get your shots.

You won't get any routine dental work until you get to your duty station. Basically, if you're not in pain, they won't touch you in training.

Anyway, for the first week, as I undertand, you in-process and until that is complete you are not yet fit to train, so they can't punish you physically.
