The one in Iraq? Probably within a couple of years. The larger war? Likely not in your lifetime.

One thing that frustrates me about my fellow Americans is that this country seems to have no concept of a multi-generational conflict. We look at what happened in Somalia, the Iran hostage crisis, the first Gulf War, and the Israel-Palestine situation, and every other incidint occuring in the Middle East, as seperate issues. Radical Islam sees all of these as battles in an ongoing war between Islam and Christianity/Judaism. These are people that believe that they are fighting a war that began before the Crusades. Osama bin Ladin has made it very clear that it is the duty of his followers to have as many children as possible so that the next generation can pick up the fight when this one dies. Killing bin Ladin won't stop the fighting. Securing Iraq won't stop the fighting. The best we as human beings can hope for is security from those that wish to do us harm. This is a war that has been going on for quite some time now. The only difference now is that America is actually fighting back.

There is no doubt in my mind that the war America faces is a result of the 50 year war. (and Bush a oil man)
The fifty year war started after WW2 when they set up Israel which is actually a byproduct of another classified mission that ran like clockwork. I believe the hand full of people that made the move (that's sending a ship to the holy land) did not envision the consequences as in depth as the spy mission they indeed carried out in WW2.
Israel is the main motive for Islamic terrorists and this has been going on for years. I think figuring a way out of Iraq and Afghanistan would be a good start. It is hard to say to the people living in Israel to leave and it's also hard to say to the people of Islam to give up the very spot where Muhammad placed his foot. That I believe is a mistake made by the very person you hold in the highest form of human intelligence.

Which war? the war in Iraq? the war on terror?

Sorry to tell you this, but unless something is done, the war on terrorism will never end for the simple reason that its a made up scare tactic that instills fear in all of us so that they can control us.

Orwell is a genius....the man saw it coming from almost 60 years ago.

If you mean the Iraqi war, it ended within 6 months after we invaded.

What we have been doing ever since is called Reconstruction... that will end whenever we are satisfied they can maintain their own government based on our standards = we will be there at least 20 more years.

It's not going to end! It's going to get worse....Wish I could tell you it will end any time soon, doesn't look like it! My husband will be leaving for his second time, he will leave in March. A lot of people have gone back for this war for the 3rd time and 4th...This is just messing up things in homes with families, my son is like out of control thanks to not having a father at home, my husband has been on active duty since 2003...

Hopefully not until the Iraqi government can fight the insurgency on its own. A lot of people don't realize that the insurgents have no problem with America being here. They just have a huge problem with having a force around that makes it impossible for themselves to take over, and that force happens to consist mainly of Americans.

It'll end when our political leaders and socialist neighbors shut the hell up and let our military do what they know how to do best. That is kill people and break things. This is a war we dare not lose. If we do, none of us will survive. Too many idiots don't understand these muslims (lower case intentional) want to kill us all.

war has ended- but our troops need to stay there to help the Iraq government rebuild the country. When Iraq government and its forces can function normally, our troops can go home as the heroes!
