It's going to happen, no matter what. We can, however, reduce its damage. Don't ask me how, ask Al Gore. He has the plan for that.

Yep, you're absolutely right, there is nothing we can do to stop global warming. We've been through several cycles of glaciation and subsequent melting in the last few million years (about every 40,000 to 100,000 years, driven by Earth's orbital cycles). The last ice age ended about 10,000 years ago so we are in the early inter-glacial phase now (recently the frequency of glaciation has been closer to 100,000 yrs). So further warming and melting is definitely expected over the next 10 or 20,000 years at least whether we contribute to it or not. Of course, our contributions of greenhouse gases may speed things up, that remains to be seen. One interesting note though: 2 major volcanic eruptions alone (on the scale of Krakatoa or Vesuvius) contribute more greenhouse gases (CO2 mainly) to the atmosphere than all of human contributions throughout history so far. Fortunately, it gets reabsorbed in the oceans and much of it is eventually precipitated as carbonates.

Agree. We have to take action to adapt to this situation TODAY. Then we have to work at cutting world emissions so there is a chance for some of the next generation to have some kind of a life. Why are we so greedy to think that as we have created this situation we can sit here and do nothing. Other species are adapting but guess we are too lazy or not smart enough to even try!!! Will do all I can because I like to think I still have some humanity left.

you are probably right ,but we should at least try
instead of giving up and wait for the end

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

I figured that.Global warming may be caused by the varying intensities of the sun or other factors such as the billions of watts of radio and other communication waves pounding the ionosphere. But we need to have solid answers before we even attempt to do anything about it. One good thing about global warming - it will take less energy to heat our houses that supposedly cause greenhouse gas.

Yes. The global warming theory is a joke. The sun is what is changing the temperature of the earth. Right now, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto also have global warming.

I am absolutely sure you are right. There is no sign that humanbehaviour will change sufficiently for altruistic acts to prevent harm.

We should start to prepare instead for its consequences.

This means we should prepare to lose coastal cities like New York and Washington, lose agricultural areas like the prairies and lose livable land areas like desert fringes.

not true...we can stop global warming. the rich need to get on board, though, and they're having too much fun.

you maybe can't stop it but the rest of the world will. Really it doesn't hurt if we try, it's not like it's making the world worse.
