I am copy pasting his statement for all to see.

"Bedroom Makeover for Improved Rest

You spend a third of your life sleeping, so it is important to be sure your environment for sleeping is soothing and relaxing.

Do whatever is possible to establish a quiet and cozy atmosphere. This means that your bedroom should ideally be located in the quietest and less trafficked area of your home; take steps to soundproof the room if your neighborhood is noisy.

The lighting should be dim and any music that is played should be peaceful. Keep the décor minimal, with nothing busy to detract from your sleep. Colors should be in the realm of blues, greens, and grays.

Some people are surprised when I recommend that there should be no plants in the bedroom.

The reason is that plants give off carbon dioxide and deplete the oxygen in the air you breathe. Also, do not place computers or televisions in your bedroom because they generate electromagnetic fields and positive ions that can induce irritability and agitation."
------ Dr. Mao.

Now pay attention- BOTH plants and animals do respiration or breathing if you like.

For that they require Oxygen and give off Carbon dioxide gas.

Respiration is a CONTINUOUS PROCESS and stops only at Death.

In addition GREEN PLANTS DO PHOTOSYNTHESIS.

For that they take in Carbon dioxide gas and release Oxygen.

But this can occur only during the day time as light is essential.

During night time only Respiration is in progress.

So the doctor is right cent percent. Plesase do not call him idiot.

Plants only produce oxygen when there is sunlight.

At night when there is no light they take oxygen from the atmosphere and use the sugars they have produced and release carbon dioxide.

The levels of carbon dioxide are very minute tho and he is using this principal to justify feng shui, so yes he is an idiot, just not for that reason.

Plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen when they photosynthesize. For that to happen, other than carbon dioxide, plants also require water and sunlight. I believe sunlight is not present at night, so plants respirate like normal humans then.

Plants do use oxygen all the time in cellular respiration. However, during the day they usually produce more oxygen in
photosynthesis than they use in cellular respiration.

Plants do have a net release of carbon dioxide at night due to cellular respiration; but you'd need to sleep in a greenhouse full of plants to have any risk at all.
