Hi! There were like 40 replies to my last question in half an hour and it got all muddled up. I am not playing devil's advocate for the sake of it! I believe in science, and also, this is what the catholic church teaches!
Can you please explain tectonic plate movement!? That's the movement of the plates of the earths crust. The continents used to be together, and over millions of years they moved apart.
Carbon 14 dating aside (can't believe i'm saying that) can you please explain the grand canyon to me?! Are you saying that it was ALL gorged out in a couple of thousand years?! I mean, have you SEEN IT?!
How come there isn't any mention of an ice age of glaciation in the bible? TO make a glaciated valley takes far more than 6000 years....
Oh, by the way, dinosaurs have been extinct for 65 million years.
How do you explain chimpanzees sharing 98% of our dna?
Oil, it drives your car... It takes millions of years to form from decaying fossils. (hence, "fossil fuel")

FIrst of all, homo sapiens sapiens, or modern humans only came into existence about 100,000 years ago or so. there is existence of human activity from about 10,000 bc in the form of primitive stone tools etc, the reason there is no written record of history prior to 4000 years ago or so it this.... THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS WRITING!!!
And guys, I totally appreciate the "in the beginning quote" i believe that too, but NOT LITERALLY!!! you can't just pick and choose what parts of genisis you like if you are a creationist!!!

Mr. Airborne... Are you SERIOUSLY sasying that humans share DNA with dirt, because humans rely on minerals etc?!
You do realise that DNA is only present in biological organisms right!? I mean, you DO realise that DNA is a self replicating string of different nucleic acid molecules?!
Are you pulling my leg?

So...how do you explain all the sea shells embedded in the Rocky Mountains? How do you explain the lack of transitional evidence? Have you considered that life was designed to have a certain amount of evolving and adapting? The Great Deluge didn't just come down as rain, it came down like cascades...it's why the ark was covered. Consider the theory that Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden for a long time. Consider the law of decay...life as energy does not improve over time, it diminishes. This is the mark of mortality...once severed from the direct link we had from our designers, our prototypes started decaying...their bones would have been thicker because they lived longer...everyone before the thick vapor layer was let down as the flood lived longer...that layer made the planet like a green house...tropical everywhere, no polar caps. After UV rays entered our atmosphere like they do now...since the flood, the life span has decreased. Also, when meat entered the diet, after the flood...life span of mankind gradually decreased as well. Adam and Eve lived over 900 years, and after their first three they had kids every year for a long time...and their kids did the same thing....it wasn't until much later that people were told not to marry their close relatives anymore. If you want to believe it was invented by humans...to explain things, so be it...but if you have an open mind and think perhaps extra-terrestrial life did interact with human development, and we called them God...Who am I to tell you anything anyway. I believe what I believe. You won't understand that science is a word that explains how people understand, and religion is a word that explains other ways that people understand. Is the world only about mundane things? Isn't there more to what we see? If this is all we get, then I am glad I believe that there is something better afterward. I am looking forward to the veil being removed that we can see the things that are around us. Science will look like a childish toy being waived in the face of facts. True science will be revealed, and there will be many surprised on both sides of this ridiculous argument.

If there was a global flood as the Bible claims that could easily explain tectonic plate movement. Afterall the Bible not only says that it rained for 40 days and nights, but also that the great floodwaters of the deep broke forth, meaning there were huge gysers that errupted. If such were the case, and enormous ammounts of water did errupt from the earth, and were dropped on the earth from the sky it could have easily created the Grand Canyon as well (and yes I've seen it, and it is very impressive). The flood can also explain the glacial valleys if the pressure were great enough, it wouldn't take 6000 years.
Dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible, there is also quite a bit of evidence contrary to the claims that man did not exist with the dinosaurs.
As for chimps sharing 98% of our DNA, if you read the Genesis creation account, God created all the animals and man out of the dust of the ground. If you check man has quite a bit of similarity with dirt as well. We need a variety of minerals in our diet in order to remain healthy as well.
AS for fossil fuels: A research team, led by J. F. Kenney of the Gas Resources Corporation in Houston, Texas, mimicked conditions more than 100 kilometres below the Earth's surface by heating marble, iron oxide and water to around 1,500 °C and 50,000 times atmospheric pressure. They produced traces of methane, the main constituent of natural gas, and octane, the hydrocarbon molecule that makes petrol.
---------------------------------
What I'm saying is that man shares similar DNA with a lot of animals, this could be attributed to the fact that all creatures were created from the dust of the ground.
But think about what you have said, and I quote, "you DO realise that DNA is a self replicating string of different nucleic acid molecules?!" Yes DNA is SELF REPLICATING. There is absolutely no evidence that DNA evolves, and mutation is harmful, not helpful. You yourself disprove the hypothesis of evolution. Are you seriously asking us to have faith in a belief system that refutes itself? Are you pulling my leg?
-----------------------------
sascoaz proves my point about the gysers, or as the Bible describes them "The great flood waters of the deep" that broke forth and were also responsible for the flood. The problem that most evolutionists have is that they only think it rained for 40 days and nights, they totaly ignore the verse about the gysers (the great flood waters of the deep breaking forth).
It will be interesting to see how they explain this huge hole in the earths crust that has just been discovered.

THE BIBLE
If the bible gave any more detail than it does, it would be a waist of time. Let the earth do the talking, and man do the arguments, rather than give a good source of calculation.
The earth does speak, it was prepared to last, the subject is, all that was prepaed to be perfect is LOST.
The bible begans at the LOST.
Gen.1:1,2; WHAT IS TIME HERE?
Gen.1:1-25; WHAT ARE THE TWO DIFFERENT TIMES HERE? Humans know what times and seasons for plant life is, what is a day for God?
NOW THAT BILLIONS OF YEARS HAVE PASSED Gen.1:1-25; THOUSANDS BEGAN FROM ALL IS LOST AT EDEN TO ALL IS SAVED IN A SPECIFIED AMOUNT OF TIME.
WHAT IS THE SPACIFIC AMOUNT OF TIME ALLOWED FOR A NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH?
Gen.1:26;

What I find to be amazing is that any one would think that the "creative days" were actually 24 hour periods! The "day" mentioned stands for a period of creative time...they were never intended to be translated literally into 24 hour periods or any exact measurement, other than whatever time each "day" took...be it millions or billions of years, each "day" had a specific function in creation of the earth and its atmosphere and what is on the earth. There are verses in the Bible that say "a day to God is as a thousand years to man", so obviously "day" in this circumstance refers to a very long period of time. God is very organized and very reasonable as well...too bad some seem to not be able to reason at all! (or maybe have never really checked into what the Bible says...really)

The earth rests on the back of more than one turtle and sometimes they jocky for position.
Re: the grand canyon.
Have you ever taken a leak in the snow, it gouges out a section pretty quick. Imagin what god or a demon can do.
Fingers where too cold to type.
extinct? That's what they want you to think.
Perhaps you found a chimp whoes mother lived near some lonely missionary.
no such thing as fossils they are demon remains. As to the fuel, Demone piss provides about 100,000 BTU's per gallon and there is alot of it ( see grand canyon).
None right, but closer than any creationist nutjob will come.

I wasn't there to see it, sorry I missed it.
But I do believe that God created the universe, I don't care how long it took him because I think the fact that he exists is more than enough information for me to know. But what really amazes me is how people are so caught up in the begining of things and not the end. I don't care how I was born or if I remember being born, I only care about where I'm going.
When I die I'm not going to ask God if I can see how he created the universe, I'm gonna ask him, "okay, what next?"

It's been proven that a barrel of oil can be made from a ton of garbage in about 5 minutes.
Given the force of water, and the right conditions, yes, the Grand Canyon could be carved out in a matter of days, or hours. Yes, I have seen it. The Bible concerns itself with the past 6000 years or so of human history and the relations of man with God. What happened before the current creation is of little interest to what God wants man to understand, right now. It is believed that this current creation on this planet, right now, is 6000 some odd years old. What was here before is basically none of our concern so far as our interaction with God. Carbon 14, and the dinos and all of that, that's nice, it is of no concern to the "right now".

I only want to address the one about the chimpanzees, if you are asking if we evolved from them. I too, believe in science and creation, I'm more of a realist. But the thing is, don't fruit flies have the same exact make-up as humans except for (something like) one molecule? So it is kind of apparent to me that 98% doesn't really mean that much. Look up the fruit fly thing, I remember it from science class in high school or college but don't quite know the exact number or wording.

the bible doesnt say the earth was created in the 7 day creation ... it says in the beggining the earth was created .. i dont argue that ... but can u explain why the population of earth was estimated by scientists to be 35 million or so hundreds of thousands of years ago yet there is no recorded history before 4000 years ago? ... fossils can be preserved for millions but no history before 4000 years hmmmm ... and about the ice age ... what was it? 10-11 thousand years ago? ... and such a natural disaster man just failed to make any record of whatsoever or pass it down to future generations ... i guess they were still too monkyized 10000 years ago ... that explains it ...
