You need to figure out what your priorities are:(1)is alcohol consumption necessary -for advancing to your goals?(2)does alcohol adversely affect your-performance?or your health?--deciding to stop drinking is not enough. Positive action on your part is required-and follow-up is necessary if you are to succeed. There are a myriad of programs for people to follow. Support groups also are available. Remember its not how much you drink-it is how alcohol affects your life or how long you have been drinking. If you are serious -you can stop. If you are not serious-you are going to waste time both for yourself and for those who dedicate themselves to helping you. Remember there are no secrets or easy ways to stop drinking. The ball is in your court. You must do this yourself. Complete abstinence is necessary for your future sobriety.

Alcohol detoxification is what you need. Best is to sign up with a treatment program if your case is severe.

However, if you think you have enough willpower and determination to do it on your own, by all means. You need to cut drinking altogether. Then, you need to gradually get rid of the toxins that are already in your body. Not having a trace of alcohol in your system makes it more likely that you do not go back to it.

Quitting drinking has to start with you. You have to want to quit drinking worse than you want a drink. If this is the case, then see your Dr. and seek help, if you do not have a doctor, then seek out your local Alcoholic Anonymous chapter and get help from them. If you are in really bad shape, go to local ER and get refferal to Detox Centre in you area.

you need to break some of the old habits. maybe pick up a part-time job on the weekend so you don't have so much free time to think about drinking.
