They can get pregnant before they are a year old, but it's not good for them to do so-it's hard to support a pregnancy when you are still growing yourself. You should wait until she is 2, and have her hips checked out. Most major genetic health problems will become apparent by the time a dog is 2, so that's why it's reccommended that you wait until then.

Dogs don't menstruate. They have heat cycles. Totally different thing.

when she first goes on heat it is possible but a bad idea. always wait till the dog is full grown,( this will depend on the breed but is normally between 1 & 2 years) otherwise there may be birth problems.

your dog will menstrate, but try to keep her away from other dogs for at least the first time, she will be too young and may loose the pups, I don't mate my dogs till their 3rd cycle
