Make a sugar cookie dough and add orange food coloring to it. If you want orange flavor get some orange extract and add it to the dough or just use some orange rind.

Orange Marmalade Cookies recipe

1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup thick orange marmalade

Cream butter. Add sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy.

Mix in eggs. Beat in flour, baking soda and salt.

Add marmalade and blend.

Drop by teaspoonsful 1 inch apart on a well-buttered cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove and cool.

Cover with Orange Icing.

Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

Orange Icing
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
3 tablespoons soft butter
3 cups confectioners sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix juices and peels. Cream butter and sugar. Mix the two together and blend until smooth.

Add in salt and mix until spreading consistency.

ORANGE DROP COOKIES

1 pkg. Duncan Hines Golden sugar cookie mix
1 egg
1 tbsp. Citrus Hill orange juice
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
3/4 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. For cookies combine cookie mix contents and buttery packet from mix, egg, 1 tablespoon orange juice, and 1/2 teaspoon orange peel in a large bowl. Stir with spoon until well blended. Stir in coconut and pecans. Drop by rounded spoonfuls 2 inches part onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 7-8 minutes. Cool completely. Makes 3 dozen cookies.

GLAZE:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. orange juice
1 tsp. grated orange peel

Combine sugar, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons orange juice, and 1 teaspoon orange peel. Stir until blended. Drizzle on cookies.



ORANGE NUT COOKIES

1 c. sugar
1 1/3 sticks of butter
2 c. flour
2 eggs, separated
2 oranges, grate rind
2 lemons - grate rind
2 c. chopped walnuts

Mix sugar and butter. Add flour, egg yolks and lemon rind. Roll in beaten egg whites - dip in nuts. Bake on greased cookie sheet - flatten with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.



**optional--to either of these recipies, add about a cup of chocolate chips, if desired.

If you are really into orange, add orange peel with orange extract. Also add some crushed pine nuts or chunky chocolate. Chunky chocolate for some reason fits really well with the taste of orange. That is why there or orange chocolate out there. Good luck.
