No, I'm not talking about World of Warcraft addicts. I've heard testimonies of people encountering dark beings with evil glowing red eyes. There are stories of so-called "bargests" (a.k.a. "black dogs") in British folklore and even sightings of them. I want to find out where I can get (at least somewhat) genuine testimonials from people who have seen things like them, of ghostly figures of any shape.

I was ten years old, living at that time in Greece. We lived in an 600 year old house (part of a venetian fort that was remodeled). I woke up one night to find my mother sitting on my bed staring up at the ceiling. I looked too, and my mom put her hand on my shoulder and said, "you mustn't be afraid." Up on the ceiling was a blacker shade than that around it, with two glowing red eyes. I don't know why, but I wasn't frightened. Maybe it was my mother's calm, I don't know. The next morning, my mother threw away an old urn that had strange symbols on it, and never saw anything like that again--of course we moved a couple of months later. I believe it must have been a demon of some sort, and that the older the land is, the more sightings there are.

I saw one once. He was about 5 feet tall, with glowing red eyes. He had a vague human shape and, for some reason, I got a sense of "maleness" from him. He used to follow my ex around. Drove me nuts.
I see ghosts a fair bit though I haven't had an experience with one in a good 6 months or more at the moment.

"Monsters" a book by John Greer has them in it. It's a good and informative read.
"Caverns, cauldrons, and concealed Creatures" by Wm. Mott is a good read too. No, it's not a Dungeons and Dragons book.
Don't forget the horrible stench. That's another bench-mark of that kind of being.
