I have been out of Cath.for a long time. There is more truth and genuine reaching to God in non denom.churches. There are sincere Catholics but the fathers of old distorted many things to keep people in what I call spiritual darkness. One good part of mass is the apos. creed. It condenses the gospel message but goes by fast because the whole mass is more of a formula than a calling out to God. I recently saw a nephew in a Pros. church and he told me he found Jesus and that "Cath. Mass is boring" His exact words.

The Catholic Mass is a very sacred, very holy event. You ask a lot (possibly things you shouldn't ask) when you ask for changes. The prayers we pray during the Mass have been there for a very long time, for example: the Lord's Prayer - this one prayer by itself is two thousand years old, given to us by Jesus Himself. Read the book of Matthew and you'll find it there. The Nicene Creed is another prayer hundreds of years old. There is so much history and tradition behind these liturgies... how could anyone want to change that?
Confession is one of the greatest gifts God gave us. Think about this: the greatest scientist in the world might be able split DNA, but he cannot say to you, "Your sins are forgiven," and forgive them. Nor can the president of the United States, the queen of England, or all of the money ever printed in the world in human history. A priest, however, was given authority by God. He can say the words, "I absolve you of your sins," and they... are... absolved. This is power that the angels in heaven do not have. Don't believe me? Check out this link:

God bless.

Cutting out the middleman would be Protestantism.
I agree, you should try to reform the Catholic Church. It's always gone over well in the past.

Many Catholics do not understand the theology behind the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. If they only knew, they will not find it boring but instead try to participate in it more often. Many Catholics go to mass every day.
Grace and peace to you!

Wanting new traditions is like thinking new Oldies songs should be made. It's a good idea traditionalists would hate. On confessions, coming clean to a trusted spiritual advisor can be a good thing.

+ Constant Renewal +
Catholic Churches are usually boring to those who do not participate in them.
Have to brought your ideas for a children's or teen choir to your parish leadership team? Have you volunteered to help? Many parishes already have a children's or teen choir or both.
All churches and their believers are always in need of renewal and redemption. This is part of what Lent is about. Our lives are a constant search for renewal (or of being born again and again and again).
+ Reconciliation +
The Catholic Church believes that "Only God forgives sin."
When a penitent person asks God for forgiveness, his (or her) sins are immediately forgiven.
Catholics also believe that when someone sins they not only hurt their relationship with God, they also injure the entire church, the body of Christ.
Jesus said, "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,"Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." (Luke 20:22-23)
The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation with a priest ordained in the name of Jesus Christ not only reconciles the sinner to God but with the entire church, including you and me.
+ With love in Christ.

Since you're obviously not impressed with the fact that God himself chooses to become present on the altar for you at Mass, why not just skip it and cut out the middleman there, too?
Better get your head straight before it's too late!

Dear friend, if you think ur church needs sum improvement ten u need to discuss it wit other elders. u r a member of the church n u hav every right to speak, u giv ur suggesion to tem n tey wil tak care of the rest. yes i too agree about the confession part. if u c in old testaments people use to slain d clean lamb n spinkle its blood to purify man from their sins.at tat time these things has to b done by only certain choosen people. wen jesus came, he became one lamb of god , who was killed for our sins so tat our sins should b washed away for once n all. so he broke the wall between us n god. now v dont need any pastor or father or other human to take our confession to god. you can directly confess ur sin to god. its sumthing between you n god.

Go to a non-denominational church. It's the same god, and jesus is still there; just a different spin on things.
