Ok we have a tabby she is about 9 yrs old and is fixed. She has the funniest little habit but was wondering if it means something.
She will carry anything soft in her mouth a sock one of the kids little stuff animals whatever ... anyway when she carries it was will do this god awful meow.
It seems like she is carrying a kitten or something. Its so funny, She has been doing this since she was a kitten.
Just wondering what this could mean.

I am not sure, but our cat does the same thing. She will carry socks around like yours, and yes, the god awful meow. Funny thing is, she won't carry anything except socks. When we get up in the morning, we will have 3 or 4 socks lying in the den floor. We laugh about the "little kittens" and put them away.

I have a kitty that does that too!!! And it's adorable (when it's not 3 in the morning, that is). She's been doing it since she was a kitten too, and she's 8 now. When she was younger she would like me to take it and toss it. She would retrieve it and bring it back. So back then, I think it was her way of saying "I wanna play". Now, she does it, I think, to get my attention. She know's I think she's sweet and I'm gonna call her. Then it's lovin' time. I also think it may have something to do with loneliness, as she only does this when the other kitties are asleep and she has now one to play with. Perhaps it's even some strange little comfort thing. I find that it's usually the same "type" of toy. Usually a soft toy as well. Could it be she's playing "house" and that's her "baby"? Anyhow, I hope some of my idea's have helped. :)

My cat does the same thing! I read somewhere that wild cats live in herds and it is natural for there to be a leader of the herd and that the rest of the cats will bring their kill to the leader as a sign of respect. So, domesticated cats sort of replicate the behavior by carrying around objects and sometimes leaving them at the foot of their owners.

I'd praise her for being a good hunter!

I've got a two year old cat that does the same thing. We've decided it means "If you really loved me, I'd be eating mice right now, but instead I've got to pretend with this stupid toy."

She meows like that because she wants you to see her. She wants a baby cat to "show the ropes." You know, cats are like potatoe chips, you never can have just one."

I'm not really a big fan of cats but i think your cat might want a kitty to take care of.
