You guys remember the Berlin wall that didn't stop the Germans from going to western Germany even though they were shot and hunted by the Russians they still managed to cross.

The only plan that would work and if illegal immigration was a real problem would be to outlaw all hispanic citizens 100 miles of the Mexican border unless with special permits

Most of those who are against illegal immigration into the United States do not think that a wall is the only solution, just part of the solution. Increasing border security with more border patrol agents and national guardsmen is also necessary, as are penalizing companies that hire illegal aliens. Tom Tancredo has a fairly detailed plan, that voters should take note of. I'm not saying that American's should vote for Tancredo on that issue alone, but voters who are concerned about illegal aliens should pressure the other candidates into doing something about illegal immigration rather than just give it lip service.
You say if illegal immigration were not a real problem... You need a reality check. The U.S. spends 70 billion dollars a year on illegal immigration, only 2-4% of illegals are picking our crops, but over 40% are on welfare, the vast majority of our federal prision population is made up of illegal aliens, I could go on and on, heck I could almost write a book dealing with all the problems of illegal immigration. The problem is real, more real that global warming, but as long as politicians continue to line their pocket books by exploting illegal aliens it is a PROBLEM that isn't going to go away.

Not just a wall.
A sensor "wall" so Border Patrol units can be alerted as to where most of these individuals are crossing. And an increase of National Guard presence. It would be a great place for our Border patrol and National Guards men training exercises. That is what China and Russia do. You don't hear stories about their neighbors invading.
Not to mention getting a government to stop making sweet tooth deals with Mexico that just slap the United States in the face.
By the way, your Berlin Wall theory is crap. The Berlin Wall split an entire country. The U.S. and Mexico are TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. With different cultures. Thus, a wall is not an evil. It is a statement. Since the Mexican government cannot seem to tell where the border is. We have to build a wall to show them.
Or we could just let everybody from every walk of life just come in whenever and however they want.

Bad Guy,
Yeah, walls will not prevent all illegal immigration...you're right.
Consider this...it WILL curtail it more than NOT having one, just as there would be many more jailbreaks WITHOUT the 20 ft. hurricane fence and the razor wire around prisons.
In the most desolate areas of our borders, the fence isn't going to do the job by itself...we'll need to put more qualified men and women equipped to keep illegals out. I guess you would call me an 'anti,' whatever that's supposed to mean. Every other nation in the world imposes severe punishments for those who cross their border illegally...why should the U.S. be vilified for doing the same thing?

No wall wont stop illegal immigration. Paper and document mills will get them in illegally. Fences are evadable, and Mexicans, American with money will sneak migrants in if the price is right. Want to reduce migration grow the Mexcian economy, and make it easier for legal migration from Mexico so thier not such a big blackmarket for illegal immigration.
Border safety should chase dopers, and thugs, and trying to prevent danger to the public. Migrant patrol should be seperated from border patrol, so one jobs is to catch border crossers and process them as normal and deport, and border patrol people armed with uzi to catch drug runners, and thugs. Fence will not work, and is disgrace if American society condone putting such a thing in place.

I never thought a wall was going to prevent the illegal invasion. Furthermore, I have always preferred a landmine field, which is more deadly, and more effective than a wall. If they put a wall up it is better than nothing at all, to keep the illegals from scattering across my property at night.

I agree the wall is a waste of money,I dont agree with illegals in America though,I think if our government inforced our laws and quit handing out freebies,it would solve the problem.

Yawn.
It won't stop it all, it will slow it, make it more difficult, particularly in urban areas where they flood the border and scatter or jump into waiting cars. If they have to tunnel or climb, it will slow the flow to a trickle, and if they are diverted to wide open areas, they will be easier to catch.
It is a tool, not a panacea.
And if it weren't going to work, there wouldn't be so much fear of it.

This whole wall thing is just a way for the government to try to get conservatives to shut the hell up! Bush's got way too many problems to be worrying about something that's been going on for years but just now getting attention because of a new found pride in the country that's fueled by racism. Seriously, how's one, two, or three immigrants coming here gonna affect your daily activities. There's probably one that just crossed right now. See nothing's changed.

I'm quite sure that the number of people who managed to get through or over the fence would be more managable than the millions who are now freely crossing the border. It's better to have SOME deterrent there than none.
