Can you die from headaches?

Question

Please help me out with this question! My friend wants to know because she has been havinf really bad headaches. I told her that you shoudln't die from headacche's but just to make sure I wanted to check with other people.
P.S.We are having a sleep over so I can't ask my mom.

Yes! A bad headache could be a sign of a cerebral hemorrhage or a tumor. If it persists for longer than 24 hours, you definitely need to see a doctor. If you have any tingling or numbness in any parts of your body, it could be stemming from the headache and you will need to seek medical attention immediately. It could be a migraine headache that is sometimes associated with your monthly period. If it is a migraine, you may have nausea and a sensitivity to light or sound. Hope your friend feels better soon. If not you need to tell your mother about this and she can talk to your friend's mom.

Don't listen to whoever posted you CANNOT die from a headache. No, the pain of one won't kill you, but the cause of the headache can. I have a brain tumor, and until it is removed, if I have a bad headache, it means I need to see a doctor immediately. Tell your friend to see a doctor very soon. If there is loss of vision, slurred words, or any other "strange" symptoms, I would suggest she go the the ER immediately. Also, tell your mom. I remember what it's like being a teenager,( it was just a couple years ago) but this is really something she should be aware of.

Yes, in general headaches are telling you something is wrong. Even if it's a headache induced by a fever. It's telling you there is an infection. If it's from a migraine, yes you can depending on what is causing it. Migraines can be due to tumors. Some may be Cluster Migraines and need medication to control them. Migraines can cause strokes, seizures, aneurysms...so it is nothing to just let go. If the headaches have gotten more often and worse it is worth it for her to see her Family Doctor and maybe even see a Neurologist.

I get migraines quite often and I have to take Blood Pressure medication, in order to keep my blood vessels from dilating too much which can caues migraines. On top of that, I also take medication for the actual migraine, it dissolves in your mouth. It's easier to take it this way because vomiting alot of times comes with the migraine.

Either way, if this is a change in pattern from her normal, headache she needs to see her doctor.

Depending what is causing the headache....yes you can die from a headache. There is many things that can cause headaches and some of these things are dangerous. There are tumours, bleeding in the head and strokes that cause headaches and are dangerous. Migraines cause headaches and are not dangerous. If the headache has been going on longer than a day and is not relieved my tylenol or motrin, then she should get it checked right away. It may be just a sinple migraine.

Maybe if she is having headaches all the time she may need to get her eyes checked, she could need glasses or a new prescription.If the headaches are all the time she could have a serious problem.Go to a Doctor and get a Check -Up.really bad H.A. could be a sign of much needed solution.a Medical Opinion.

Yes, I would imagine so, especially if the headache is a symptom (usually is), of a potentially fatal condition like an aneurysm or stroke.

If the headache is due to a tumour or some such problem, yes. However, chances are good that it's just migraines, tell her to see her doctor. Good luck!

surely one can die from headache, migraine (spellcheck) is a serious headache; or if there is other complication to cause serious headache.
