I went to a Catholic School when I was younger, and some of the nonsense I've heard come out in the "religion" class made me wonder how some of these people haven't "accidentally" drank draino thinking it was cool-aid.

Do any of these christians actually stop to reread what they write to defend their religion? A talking snake? A woman made from a rib (of all parts of a persons body...)? A jew nailed to a piece of wood, than forgiving everyone?

If I started making up nonsense like jesus and getting a little band of believers together, I'd be called a cult leader. How is christianity any different?

I wouldn't say silly as much as evasive. I remember when this girl who was a DEVOUT Christian was having a conversation with me because she saw me check this book out of the library about agnosticism and she thought I was "misled". I asked her one of my "minis" about the Bible:

What happened to the fish on Noah's Ark? I assume there were evil fish as well, so did Noah just shoo away all of the other at least 2000 species of fish and saved just two? And for that matter, were they fresh or saltwater fish?

She said it was little insignificant question like that that blinside your faith in the lord. She also added that it didn't matter because all of the animals are here today so that was that end of story.

Funny. I thought she was going to say God told him to put them in a bucket.

Actually, they don't. I would like to point out that the Christians who quote from the bible, have such closed minds that not even a field mouse could fit inside that gap in between the doorjamb and the floor. Non-christians would not even know the actual meaning of the comments and quotes because the bible is so hypocritical and confusing. I

By the way, I was baptised Anglican and was taught at a primary state school where no religion class was taught, then was moved to a private school where religion classes were core subjects. So basically, I had religion shoved down my throat, too. However, there was only a handful of anglicans in the whole school so we were the minority. You had to baptised in the Christian faith to go there. Looking back, I would have preferred a state school.

Christianity is not different from any other religion and christians should not defend themselves with bible excerpts if they really want us to convert to their faith. Or by saying that we are ignorant and silly and hard of hearing the lord's word. Hell, I don't believe in God but I have had a few experiences with angels and amazing situations that make me believe in a higher power, but do you see me walking around saying gobbeldygook and believe me or else? No! Wake up to yourselves you ignorant christians, there are other faiths that are just amazing as yours and never shove it down peoples throats.

Say, you didn't happen to have a site called xanga.com/emancipateyourmind or something like that did you? Is your name Jon? I'm sorry I had to ask that before I went on. You are looking on the surface too much my friend. A talking donkey, walking on water, controlling the elements, it seems like myths and nonsense. You see the thing that differentiates you and Christ was that Jesus fulfilled prophecy. In the Old Testament, many prophets prophesied of someone who would come to die for mankind's sins, that he would be betrayed and sold for thirty pieces of silver, amazingly would ride in on a donkey, that his garments would be gambled for, he would have no broken bones, and would rise from the dead. I challenge you to copy, paste, and read these two to three short paragraphs,
http://www.allabouttruth.org/messianic-prophecy.htm
http://www.allabouttruth.org/biblical-prophecy.htm
(second paragraph for biblical-prophecy)
All this was phrophisied thousands of years ago, before it happened. People had these things written down and simply saw them fulfilled through Jesus. Through God's direction, these prophets prophesied major events in history.. My friend, you ought to give Jesus and His claims a chance, rather than scoff at the trifles and insignificants. Many people have sought to disprove Christianity, but because of so much overwhelming proof, these very people come back Christians themselves. It's kind of funny. You can email me at garlandgilchrist@yahoo.com if you have any questions or would just like to talk more about this. God Bless my friend.

Christianity has over 5000 years of prophetic history to show it's authenticity, as well as archaeological, historical, and linguistic evidence to back it up. Critical thinking is very important to the believer. The problem with most non-believers is their lack of critical thinking. So far as Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection that you seem to want to flaunt as nonsense, would secular history from not only Josephus, but other Roman historians of the day help you any? You choose to disbelieve the Bible, so what about the secular historians that authenticate it?

You know, no one is forcing you to be religious, and no one is requiring you to believe (so far anyway). That's the beauty of our country. However, the way you have worded your question is disrespectful of people who believe in their religion. True, there are many religious people who are spiteful towards non-believers, but that does not mean you should insult all Christians in general. There are also many Christians that embrace non-believers without judgement and insults, and you should embrace Christians the same way. There's extremists in both camps, don't be one of them.

OK so you don't believe in the Trilogy, and further you must have gone to a very poor excuse of a Catholic school, if you didn't learn that we Catholics believe in the New Testament but the old testament to us is figurative and not literal.........by the way you said, " jesus," when referring to Jesus or God, we use a capital letter for the first letter God, He, Him, Jesus just thought that you would like to know that.

Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the meaning of something spoken is in the ears of the person who hears it. Your heart is closed and for that I am sorry. I wish I could let you have what I have for even a few minutes so you would understand but alas....that is not to be.

The reason us silly Christians believe what we do is based largely on fact. I would challenge anyone who does not believe in God, or Jesus Christ, to do your due diligence, and find out for yourselves if Jesus was a) a person who really lived. b) a person who was really crucified on a cross. and c) a person who rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of people, many who witnessed his death. The very core of the Christian faith stands on this final truth. You don't even need the Bible to verify it. Many secular historians recorded his death, burial, and resurrection. Many have claimed to know the way to God (Buddha, Confuscious, Mohamed etc.) but only Jesus claimed to actually be God, and he proved it by resurrecting himself from the dead. No one in history has ever been able to rise from the dead. Also, no one who has ever tried to refute the resurrection of Jesus has EVER succeeded. Many who have tried, have realized the truth, and turned to God. If you think you are smarter than the rest, try it yourself. If we who believe in Christ are right, and you are wrong, you will suffer eternal consequences. You owe it to yourself to make sure that you have not been mistaken. Remember, it is not Gods desire for anyone on this earth to die without his love and forgiveness. He doesn't want a single person to die and go to hell for all eternity. Hell was created for Satan and his demons, (fallen angels) not for you! Do not let Satan take you down with him. Research this! Do it now! Your life depends on it!

One more thing, not every person who says "Jesus Christ is Lord" is really Godly. Jesus himself said that many people who claim to be godly are really fake hypocrites. This is not God's fault, do not blame him for the actions of wicked men. It is up to every person individually to find out the truth about God. You must seek him yourself, you are without excuse. Read the Bible with an open mind, Get an easy to read NIV version, and ask God to reveal himself to you and he will. I will be praying that God works on the hearts of everyone who reads this. I love you all, good luck.

Its not any different in any way. Youre 100% correct.

However, you are omitting the invisible father-figure who watches everyone 24/7 and expects everyone to worship him and if they dont worship him enough, they get sent to an everlasting fiery place. And the kicker is, all through that, he loves you.

And of course his nemesis (all good fairy tales have one) who lives in the fiery place and tries to get people there for no particular reason at all.
