it just feels weird/funny. I am aware of it all the time. It started about 1 or 2 days ago. I realize this isn`t much to go on but there isn`t really any other way to describe it.Any ideas what it might be?
Should it just go away in a couple days?

How much would it cost aproximately to have a dentist check it out?

Try flossing. Maybe there is a little bit of pressure on your tooth from something in between. Did you eat anything that may have stuck in your teeth? The ones that always do it for me are meat, and popcorn.

Hello, hope your tooth is feeling better. Re: your added info about cost? It depends on a couple things. If you have a dental plan on your health insurance, and it has been a while since you visited, your checkups may very well be 100% covered. If you need work done, it all depends on your insurance coverage...a percentage, or you pay into your deductible for the year, etc.

If you are on good terms with your dentist, just call them and get an appointment. If the problem can be solved with just a visual check and removing something with the vacuum sucker, or a pick or floss, they may not charge you anything.

You can't go wrong investing in your smile, though, no matter how much it costs. Go get it checked out before you are in an emergency.

I agree with the first person, that checking to be sure there are no bits of food stuck between the tooth and another is the first thing to check. If this doesn't alleviate the problem, it might be good to check with your dentist and let him/her have a look. What you could be feeling is a small bit of pressure from an infection in the gums or at the root of the tooth, such as an abcess. In particular, if it seems sensitive to heat, that's a pretty good indicator of a problem, but either way, it's something I'd have checked.
