Every one goes to some one or some thing for strength and support. Weather it be a friend a family member or God.
I personally rely on all three. depending on the circumstance.
It affects your mental state the most when you are desperate and things are out of your, or human control we reach out to God.
For instance When My son was in the hospital with very little chance of surviving period much less surviving and being any thing close to normal No one could help ease my pain nor could I control that situation so I decided to put it in the hands of God I knew that at that time I had done all I could possibly do for him and the situation he was going through.
by the way he survived and has very few problems. all unnoticable.

Faith in yourself is sufficient enough to accomplish a lot of things - b'cos faith is a very strong weapon. When you look around the universe with an open mind and eyes; you'll feel that this creation in an artefact of a power which is omnipresent. This Power is referred to as GOD. When a faith in yourself could do wonders then what about if you place full faith in the all-powerful GOD. You will see only wonderful happenings & feel wonderful al through.

It is no picnic to be faithful to God. Satan loves to do everything within his power to make us uncomfortable and to put challenges in our path. However, God is always there to help us through each situation. The faithful have learned that their is nothing they can not overcome with God's help and that knowledge gives us a sense of peace and confidence that is beyond all understanding. As far as physical well being....well, let me put it this way. Since becoming a Christian, I have been faced with a disease that causes a great deal of pain but is not fatal so I am uncomfortable most of the time. However, the health issues that I had before that are made worse by stress and worry have changed dramatically. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels are nearly perfect and my physical stamina is about twice that of most people my age. Judge for yourself.

I have never not had faith in God. I know that I kind of got away from Him a little bit. It wasn't that I didn't believe in Him, I just wasn't as close to Him as I used to be. I started going to church again and I can tell you, I have been a LOT happier than I used to be. I can't explaine why, it just does affect your well being. Maybe just knowing that someone is always looking after you and caring about you? I don't know.

Someone once made the claim (without documentation) that believers had less stress which would be extremely healthy for not comprimising ones immune system . I really can't substantiate this and whether the lack of respect for non believers play a part in this or just the comfort of numbers for believers is still a mystery to me . good question anyway.

It helps us get through the tough times when you have something that you can believe or have faith in, and then it also helps you pull through because in every life on this earth there are ups an downs. Having good spirituality makes you see things through in life and that it also helps pull yourself through. Good enough, no?

The problem with belief is that you wait and wait and wait for a payoff, a reward of some sort, even a little good luck but it never comes. That incudes well being.
