Every night for the past month or so when we put our jack russell terrier to bed in his kennel (not crowded, it's roomy), he seems to bark a few times for no apparent reason. any ideas of why and/or how to stop him from doing this?

He is seeking attention. Tell him to shut up in a disapproving voice and then ignore him. They seek to please and after he shuts up compliment him for minding.

Is it possible he has to go potty? Is he scared of you leaving him. Try relaxing him with music or TV in the background.

He's probably just telling you good night.

Euthanize him, or he's just not used to you and his environment. Give him time. Otherwise, take him to a vet.
