its really not good for you.
but either way, it depends on what you're eating... a light snack is okay but dont go all out and eat a full course meal after eight pm. it does make you gain weight and it affects the way you sleep. plus, its been known to make people more tired

1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.
Good LUCK!

it all depends on what you are eating and how much. if your pre-bed time meal fits into your caloric intake for the day no problem. obviously bed time would be the worst time to ingest carbs as they are not needed at rest and elevated insulin levels suppress GH secretion. 60% of GH is released at night and it's the most powerful fat burning substance that the human body produces.
at bedtime you would want to ingest an easy digestible protein like a shake, fish, cottage cheese, eggs, etc. not meat or poultry. you would want very little if any carbs (couple of grams) and some healthy fats. for about the past 15 years by bedtime meal has been a blended protein shake with peanut butter or olive oil.
the more fat free mass (lean body mass) that an person has the less the decrease in the resting metabolic rate to the sleeping metabolic rate.

You should probably eat before 6:00.
Here is how to eat healthy.
Breakfast-Traditionally breakfast is a large meal eaten before work and designed to carry people through a large part of the day.
Lunch-Lunch is an abbreviation of luncheon, meaning a light midday meal. In the modern usage the term refers to a midday meal of any size.
Dinner-In many parts of the world, dinner is the main repast of a day, normally cooked food consisting of animal proteins and starch products like rice, noodles or potatoes.
Dessert-Dessert is a course that typically comes at the end of a meal, usually consisting of sweet food but sometimes of a strongly-flavored one, such as some cheeses.
Hope I helped!

If you eat and then go to bed, you're body is at rest while sleeping, so your digestion is not fully engaged like when you're awake and doing activities during the day. If you're not burning those calories fully, then thats why you're getting fat. Try to eat atleast 2 or more hours before bedtime.

Oh yeah. I lose weight when I don't eat 3 hours before bedtime. It's hard to do, but that's the only way I lose weight.

Eating before bed is not good, because your energy levels are at the lowest, and it won't be burned off. Also, because you are lying down, your digestive system is not working at optimum, and food can get trapped in your stomach until you stand up. But as it is being digested, the juices are also trapped. This could give you indigestion or even stomach ulcers.

No, because your metabolism slows at night and you are more likely to store all of the late night meal you had rather than have a chance to burn it off as during the day
