I am a bit concerened as of about 2 months ago I started purchaseing wwii items for my sons bedroom because I decorate for a living and decided to make his room a wwii room with trunks, combat helmets, canteens, naval hats, clothing etc...about 4 weeks ago we heard thumping in his room walls and then on the outside door like a frantic banging or someone knocking...I said if anything not of good in the home, it needed to leave it was not welcome and all stopped. Now, last night I was sleeping and at about 6:00 in the morn, heavy thumping or banging over my headboard in the wall went off and continued for 1/2 hour. It is a constant thump, thump, thump like someone hammering outside but never stops . It is not too loud and always sounds like on the other side of the wall, not directly in the room...what could it be?

It could be anything....my boyfriend had acorns falling on his roof that scared the crap out of me. Why don't you call a priest and have your house blessed....

Always has worked for my family....

Well first of all what sort of banging exactly - Second of all exactly where is it coming from.

Look for the most obvious things you can find - Plumbing an angry nieghbor anything

Now if your thinking it's a ghost or somthing - remove one object at a time until it stops - phisical or not - it is a process of elimination and try to walk twords the noise when it happens - so you can determine with certainty where it is in the house

Also check to see if it isn't hammering from outside

If you live in a semi-detached, it's probably your neighbor banging on the wall between your two homes. Otherwise, it's likely to do with plumbing. Often times air in pipes can cause what sounds like someone thumping on the walls. Or, it could be an animal which has taken up residence in the walls of your house.

What it is not, is anything supernatural. Ghosts, like unicorns, pixies and angels don't exist.

Before assuming it is something supernatural, you might consider the fact that it might be (mice, rats,or squirrels) in the walls. When I was growing up,my mother would not let us keep a cat in the house, and I would open my dresser only to find mice in my dresser, and I would hear them running, and chewing up and down the walls behind my bed.
So I would call an exterminator, and rule out rodents, before considering supernatural things. The rodents could of been living in the trunk, ect.

In our old apartment, the pipes in the walls would do that every time the heat came on. It was a "thump thump thump" noise like you described. It would slowly fade away once the heat turned off.

I would light white candles (to set a peaceful mood) pray for strength and protection and ask what or whoever is doing it to stop...if it doesnt stop I would try 1 pc at a time removing it until its stops.....not all pcs maybe just one is the source I do believe in the supernatural....so I think it could be a gohst...
And then if that doesnt work ask a priest or medium to help you :) Bless you and good luck
Note as long as your not being hurt its not a polgergiest..just looking for attention maybe...

this may be something that has to do with your home, such as rats or pipes. Talk to the landlord or plummer. If they say their is nothing wrong with the house, take the items away from your home, maybe put them in a public storage, and see if the banging stops.

That's very odd... I know that mice can get into the walls and make a lot of noise, but I don't think they thump and bang.

Sometimes your plumbing can bang like that.

Have a plumber come check things out first.

It could be something with a logical, natural explanation.

Plumbing, animal in the walls...those sorta things.

Wait. Did you just admit you talked to your house?

How do you live with someone for 3 years and not be comfortable enough to ask "What is that noise?"
