I am a catholic myself, but I dont take it personally. Comedians arent trying to publicly offend us. If you really believe you would not listen to people who say things like that. Dont take it to personally.

Dane Cook grew up Catholic, if I'm not mistaken.
And a majority of the population is Christian, and a majority of Christians are Catholic.
He picks at Slip and Slides and things many people experience -- fast food, screwing up at work, etc. He talks a lot about things that people know about, so there's less to explain.
I don't see why they wouldn't pick fun.

first of all, in all hazard for the reason which you're no longer socially knowledgeable adequate to be making relaxing of something you don't comprehend. you're saying "mexicans", like it rather is meant to consult all hispanic people. It does not. Secondly in case you understood comedy you would be responsive to that it is not "making relaxing of". as we talk's comedy is all related to the irony of stereotypes between distinctive races. you will locate that the hispanic and black comedians you're touching on also have a intense white demographic that attends their shows. it fairly is basically comedy. loosen up. no longer each and everything is black and white. and that i be responsive to lots of comedians who've cloth that contain different races. i are not getting indignant because of the fact i'm knowledgeable and that i be responsive to it fairly is comedy. Neither must you.

Catholic mass is just kind of a funny, weird thing. It's so easy to laugh at the sit stand sit stand sit stand shake a stranger's hand thing.

Comedians will make fun of whatever makes people laugh. I have even heard the old punch line about the jews being the ones that killed Jesus. You never know what you're gonna hear...

Catholic are Iconic Christians. Since they are in the spotlight, that makes them a target. Some people do find Catholicism funny. People pay comedians to make them laugh.

don't be too thin skinned ... comedians tend to mqke fun of EVERYTHING and everybody :)
but i do have to admitt i attended the summer wedding of two catholic friends of mine and i don't know if it was because of the heat or because i was pregnant but the rituals started to make me laugh. I wasn't meaning to be disrespectful .. but they just seemed funny.
It isn't only catholic rituals that are funny but even some day to day stuff that some people do.

You mean the aerobics thing?
Sit, stand, sit, kneel, do a shot?
Comedians have a different value on what they see.
Generally the light hearted ones do no harm.
It is the foul mouthed ones I care not to listen to.

THE VATICAN RAG
by Tom Lehrer
[--Moderately bright--]
First you get down on your knees,
Fiddle with your rosaries,
Bow your head with great respect,
and
Genuflect, genuflect, genuflect!
Do whatever steps you want if
You have cleared them with the Pontiff,
Everybody say his own
Kyrie eleison,
Doin' the Vatican Rag!
[--jaunty piano solo--]
Get in line in that processional,
Step into that small confessional,
There the guy who's got religion'll
Tell you if your sin's original.
If it is, try playing it safer,
Drink the wine and chew the wafer,
Two, four, six, eight,
Time to transubstantiate!
So, get down upon your knees,
Fiddle with your rosaries,
Bow your head with great respect,
and
Genuflect, genuflect, genuflect!
Make a cross on your abdomen,
When in Rome, do like a Roman,
Ave Maria!
(Gee, it's good to see ya!)
Getting ecstatic an'
sort of dramatic an'
Doin' the Vatican Rag!
To a Protestant raised on an old-fashioned, say, Lutheran church service, Mass has a whole lot of movement, strange sounds, incense, and all manner of unusual activity. And "Boy, does (insert group here) ever do some weird stuff!" is one of the basic elements of most comedians' efforts.

Why do comedians make fun of anything? Because it's funny. Tomorow I'm going to see Jim Gaffigan perform, and he is a Catholic that makes fun of his own religion.
