I have had a severe sleeping problem my whole life. The latest things I have tried that help are Melatonin, and also Calcim magnesim.
You may also want to try a combination of a prescription sleep aid, such as Ambien together with a muscle relaxant .. Flexeral (sp?) for example.
Taking all of the above is the only thing that HAS helped me. Somethimes combinations of meds taken together work better than just taking more of one type.
Be SURE to check with your doctor about how much you should take when combining them.
oh....also, for some reason taking 600 mg. of ibuprophen helps quite a bit too..
Good luck!! : )

I have suffered from insomnia. All sorts of thoughts started racing through the mind when I used to go to bed. Obviously, it is lack of relaxtion. If you relax at the right time you go to sleep - it is as simple as that.
I did not take any prescription drugs since they have side effects and are addictive. I used natural remedies to get over the problem. You may try some of the natural remedies available.

It all depends on you lifestyle activities. For myself, I am able to concentrate better at night because it is more quieter and peaceful. I can study better and research my stuffs better at night. However, the downside to it is I sleep late and during day-time, I get abit drowsy and in the end, I really can't perform well in my day-time activities. What I did was consult a doctor regarding my insomnia situation. I was given diazepam 10MG to be taken as and when needed to break the cycle only. NEVER take sleeping pills long term as the effects are far to see and when they are there, it is too disastrous.

Dont know if I have insomnia ,,,,I havnt had enough sleep to notice.
Try getting your partner to apply gentle massage to your shoulders and neck while you lay in bed, let your mind concentrate on what is happening to you and soon, as I sometimes do, you may fall asleep. It dont work all the time but sure as hell worth a go to get some shuteye. If the massage turns into a full blown sex session that may wear you out enough to get some sleep,,,,,,at least is satisfying and something to do while your awake. All works for me. If you dont have a partner ,,,,,find one.

Its actually proven that people 30 and over suffer from some sort of imsomia at least three times per week. I being a Psychologist am aware that a lot of people have anxiety that can be treated by drugs classifed as benzodiazapams.

I have insomnia. I usually take a benadryl about 2 hrs before I get sleepy. Sometimes it helps, but I know it relaxes me.
