You won't beat it if you have been drinking and have alcohol in your system. The reason is the chemical reactions which happen over which you have no control. Alcohol, like other volitile chemicals in your body reaches a point where it is evolved out in your breath in the same manner as carbon dioxode. The brethalyzer is a chemical detector which senses the amount of alcohol evolved out in your breath. Simple cause and effect. Your body does not metabolize alcohol very well. It metabolizes into sugars in the liver, but that takes time. Usually, you drink faster than you can metabolize, which is why you feel the effects, i.e., get drunk. And, the higher the alcohol level in your system, the more evovlves out through your lungs, and the higher the reading the breathalyzer reads. Another person mentioned Mythbusters, who tsted this, and found nothing wil reduce the amount evolved out through yoru lungs. Myth busted, nothing works to cheat the breathalyzer. You can challenge based on when it was last calibrated for accuracy, but outside of the accuracy/calibration challenge, you are out of luck to beat the system. It takes the average person about an hour per ounce of mixed drink, or 12 ounce beer to metabolize the alcohol. So, pace yourself, to about an ounce of hard stuff or a 12 ounce beer per hour and you will do OK, since your breath will be higher, but you will be metabolizing the alcohol at a rate similar to your consuming, and stay below the limit. Breathalyzers these days are smart devices, they sense humidity and temperature as well as sense alcohol, so you can't fake it by drawing in air to dilute the sample. If the air sensed is not humid enough or near the right temperature for a normal breath exhale, then the machine knows something is not right and indicates it isn't a valid sample. The bottom line, breathalyzers are smart enough to know that the sample is not right for a normal human exhale, so you can't beat the device. Bottom line; don't drink and drive. Or if you do, limit your drinking to an ounce of hard stuff or a 12 ounce beer per hour, or less. This also depends on your body mass. A heavier person can absorb more alcohol than a skinny person over a given period of time. So, I gues that means a fat person can drink more than a skinny person per unit time and still beat the machine. This, is the reason why I do not drink when I am out, unless I am not driving. If I am not driving, then anything goes. If I am driving, then I limit myself to a couple of beers over several hours.

Tell the officer that you will submit to a blood alcohol test, but since you reciently used SCOPE, you know you will fail any breathalyzer at this moment. Keep a bottle of SCOPE in the car so you can rince your mouth out in a pinch. SCOPE is 20% alcohol (40 proof) and will give a positive on a breathalyzer test every time. The law reads "Blood Alcohol Level" anyhow, so the breathalyzer needs to be backed up with a blood test, otherwise it is vulnerable in court. Legally you can have a breathalyzer of any level as long as your BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL is below the legal limit, you are legal to drive.

breathe in, air from the outside will be pulled into the breathalyzer and no one will notice, it looks like your exhaling.

You can't. You could always refuse and get arrested. Of course, I'd rather you weren't out drinking and driving, possibly killing my family. Hope you get a DUI.

Mythbusters tried every fabled breath-test cheater. None of them lowered their numbers even by a fraction. P.S. don't refuse the test, while hilarious for all of us, it would royally suck for you.
