Archaeologists have found any number of artifacts mentioned in the Bible, which support the facts as stated in that Book. I saw the chariots of Pharaoh on the bottom of the Red Sea on a History Channel program. References to David and Solomon have been located, as well as King Saul. The Garden of Eden was also discovered, although it's no longer a garden. So was Mount Sinai. All you have to do is look. But those who do not wish to believe do not feel the need to look...

Neither answer (or school of thought) can be proved or disproved by 'evidence' since each is essentially a belief system. Belief systems do not require 'evidence' in order to exist, the presence (or lack thereof) of evidence serves it either way.
Lets put it this way. Lets say there was a flood, something both scientists and religious followers believe in. What does that prove: the scientists say that it is proof that the flood was historically true, nothing more, while the religiously inclined see it as 'confirmation' that their belief system is correct and validated.
The correct answer is, actually, none of the above. It follows a standard fallacious argumentative train that says that if a + b = c is proven true, then b + c = x, and therefore a + x = sin F. Simply because something is correct does not, ipso facto, validate and confirm every subsequent equation (or statement) that follows.
To say that Jesus exists does not, ipso facto, confirm everything said in the bible, in much the same way the fact that you exist does not, ipso facto, confirm that everything said (or written) about you is true.
Things are true to the extent that they are true, and false to the extent that they are false.

I once thought the bible was just an ancient book of good advice. After studying what it contains, particularly the prophecy and how it was later fulfilled, I was convinced. There are truths in the bible that none of the writers could have possibly known at the time without divine help. For example, many people, all the way into Christopher Columbus' time, believed the earth to be flat. Yet the bible said it was round thousands of years before that (Isaiah 40:22). Pretty compelling evidence if you ask me!

Historical evidence, archeological evidence, and textual analysis all point to the conclusion that, aside from the NT letters, the Bible is a collection of myths, fairy tales, and fables, with a little bit of inaccurate history mixed in. Christian apologists will say that archeology backs up the Bible 100%, but they are notorious for ignoring any evidence that doesn't fit into their cramped little world view.

The evidence, from archeology and linguistics to astronomy, physics and zoology shows that the bible is a collection of folk tales and myths. It is completely riddled with errors, illogic, contradictions, confusions, anachronisms , absurdities and scientific impossiblilities..
This is not to say that there aren't factual things in the bible. Of course there are, as there are also factual things in Harry Potter or any other work of fiction.
It is not possible in this forum to be 'detailed", as literally 100's of books and thousands of scientific papers have been published on this topic. I'm not one of those who copies and pastes. I would start your research by doing a Google or Wikipedia search for Biblical Errata....always an entertaining place to start. You could also have a look at www.infidels.org as they have lots of material.
Here are several websites to get you started on YOUR OWN research.

You would find that the books of Judges, Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah contain truths the have been varified by archeoligical evidence.
The Poetic books like Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes and Canticles (Song of Solomon) ARE the evidence of what life and beliefs were in Monarchinal, Exilic and 2nd Temple (Hellenistic) Phoenician (read: Judean/Israel/Palestine/Canaanite) life.
Likewise the New Testement is a primary source on what 1st & 2nd Century Christianity was like in the Post-Hasmonean region.

The Bible is a selection of tales and legends inspired by the stories that bronze age middle eastern goat herders were telling each others at nigh, around the camp fire, playing to scare each other. Fairy tales can be interesting, they are however not "true", they are fairy tales...

If u believe that the bible is true than u will have to believe that proven scientific evidence is totally crap.
I would like to be clear on one point though. I apologise to all Christians if I hurt their feelings from the answer that I give. Because that is not what I m aiming to do. I'm just stating facts I found out n my opinion.........just as the question asked me to.
As per the Bible, in the first book of Genesis in Chapter One, the universe was created in six days and each day is defined as a twenty-four hours period. It is a proven fact of science that the creation of Universe has taken billions of years. Thus, the bible contradics Science
The Bible says in chapter 1, verses 3-5, of Genesis that the phenomenon of day and night was created on the first day of creation of the Universe by God. The light circulating in the universe is the result of a complex reaction in the stars; these stars were created according to the Bible (Genesis chapter 1 verse 14 to 19) on the fourth day. It is illogical to mention the result that is the light (the phenomenon of day and night) was created on the first day of Creation when the cause or source of the light was created three days later. Moreover the existence of evening and morning as elements of a single day is only conceivable after the creation of the earth and its rotation around the sun.
According to the Bible, Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 9 to 13, the earth was created on the third day, and as per verses 14 to 19, the sun and the moon were created on the fourth day. The earth and the moon emanated, as we know, from their original star, the Sun. Hence to place the creation of the sun and the moon after the creation of the earth is contrary to the established idea about the formation of the solar system.
According to the Bible, Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 11-13, vegetation was created on the third day along with seed-bearing grasses, plants and trees; and further on as per verses 14-19, the sun was created on the fourth day. How is it scientifically possible for the vegetation to have appeared without the presence of the sun, as has been stated in the Bible?
According to the Bible both the sun and the moon emit their own light. In the Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verse 16 says, "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night".
Science tells us today that the moon does not have its own light. That moon reflects the light of the sun.
As per the genealogy of Jesus Christ given in the Bible, from Jesus through Abraham (pbuh) to the first man on earth i.e. Adam (pbuh), Adam appeared on the earth approximately 5800 years ago:
1948 years between Adam and Abraham
Approximately 1800 years between Abraham (pbuh) and Jesus (pbuh)
2000 years from Jesus till today
These figures are further confused by the fact that the Jewish calendar is currently on or about 5800 years old.
There is sufficient evidence from archaeological and anthropological sources to suggest that the first human being on earth was present tens of thousands of years ago and not merely 5,800 years ago as is suggested by the Bible.
The Biblical description of the flood in Genesis chapter 6, 7 and 8 indicates that the deluge was universal and it destroyed every living thing on earth, except those present with Noah in the ark. The description suggests that the event took place 1656 years after the creation of Adam or 292 years before the birth of Abraham, at a time when Noah was 600 years old. Thus the flood may have occurred in the 21st or 22nd Century B.C.
This story of the flood, as given in the Bible, contradicts scientific evidence from archaelogical sources which indicate that the eleventh dynasty in Egypt and the third dynasty in Babylonia were in existence without any break in civilisation and in a manner totally unaffected by any major calamity which may have occurred in the 21st century B.C. This contradicts the Biblical story that the whole world had been immersed in the flood water.
If by chance your feelings have been hurt after reading all this, pls accept my sincere apologies as it was not my desire to hurt yours or any Christian's feelings.
