If so why do I find so many at the golf course?

Not really. The basic problem with Top Flight golf balls is that they are made for long flight and not so much for feel like the ProV. Price on the Top Flight is very good compared to all the other brands. The most important thing is that this balls are only good for beginners and maybe mid handicapers becauste they wont let you make shots that require some sort of backspin.
Hope this answer your question

Top Flite makes a very good golf ball. The reason you find so many on the golf course is because they are the number one selling ball, and the reason they are the number one selling ball is that they are affordable. Top Flite has a reputation for making a rock-hard golf ball, but that has changed in the last few years. There are a variety of choices -- distance balls, which have a firmer feel when you hit them (and some people prefer this feel), and soft-cover balls, which feel softer when you hit them for more control around the greens. The ball that is right for you depends on the type of game you have.

The average golfer will notice little difference between a Top Flight and a luxury ball like the Titleist Pro V1 except for a much lower price.

Watch those 10 handicappers who swear by Titleist grab a Xed out Top Flight when they have to carry a 200 yard water hazzard. lol

I don't think there is a whole lot of difference in balls myself. I have played with top flite, pinnacle, and titleist(sorry poor spelling) and have not noticed too much differnce in them other than feel around the greens. Top flight has really changed their ball designs this year making better ones for a really good price.

They are probably the worst ball you can get. Hit a shot with a Top Flite and a Pro V1 and listen to the sound, and notice the feel. Top Flites are cheap, so people use them when they have a shot that could go O.B. or into a hazard so the don't lose their good ball.

No, they're not bad. But the harder a ball is the harder it is to hit. If you're an average player then play a softer ball. It's easier to control.

It is always convenient to blame the ball, let me tell you that.

Maybe when all of us amateur golfers will get better, so will the brands of the balls we play.

A ball is just a ball, and one cries more when the expensive ones land in the water never to be seen again.
