If he's getting chubby, he's eating too much.
Although most people leave dry food out for their cats all day, this is not the best way to feed them. You must use a dry measuring cup and actually measure out the amount of food. I feed my cats (4 of them) twice a day. They are all adults: the girls get about 1/8 cup at each meal and the boys about 1/4 cup at each meal. They eat Iams adult cat formula, and all are healthy and gorgeous.
The actual amount you feed depends on the animal. Start measuring the food, using the guidelines on the bag to start with. If kitty slowly loses weight, you are doing it right. If kitty gains weight, you're feeding too much, just feed less. Once kitty stabilizes at a good weight, adjust the amount fed to keep kitty at that weight.
Overweight animals may be cute, but they are unhealthy. Just like in humans, overweight and obese animals are very common and are prone to many health conditions including diabetes, joint problems, and even liver disease (esp. in cats!).
Good for you for being concerned! It is so much easier to start healthy habits now rather than weight until you have a huge fat cat to deal with. Then it is so difficult!

Your cat food can or box will give feeding directions. With that as a guide add a little if the cat is very active, cut back a little if he is inactive or overweight. The same with treats, Use toys and treat balls to help him be active. Play with him too.

Properly you u would feed them not a lot and at that age they are growing and the animal might get a little fat during that tine span. Maybe if u are feeding them to many treats if u are that could be the problem.
Hope this helps!

about a cup and half of food until he is one year old then make it a cup and switch to adult food.
Give him lots of toys so that he can be active
Some cats develop what looks like a fat belly after they have been fixed(spayed or neutered) and it has nothing to do with eating too much. Your vet could advise.
In my experience diet food does not work at all and the cat throws it up for you to clean if he really hates it! lol but what does work is giving him toys or play tubes to keep him active. Anything under 20 pounds is ok though.

Yeah if it's getting fat at this age then you are feeding it to much and
it's getting sick by eating to much. Maybe you should ask a vet just
to make sure if your feeding it to much and how much you should
feed it. My guess is that maybe three or two times a day you should
feed it.

We have about half a dozen barn cats that hang out at our house. They pretty much eat anything we throw out, plus whatever food they can steal from our dog. I hope they are at least eating a few mice to. Its the least they could do considering the mess they make in my lawn. lol
None of them look overly fat.

I would feed the kitten dry food which is specifically for kittens and follow the recommendations on the pack. The better brands are low fat and should be no problem.

Kittens and most other baby animals tend to get a little chubby (i think they are cuter that way) i would cut down on the treats and maybe buy some healthy diet treats if you are really worried.
Keep food and water by the kitty and it will eat when it wants to

maybe he's getting ready for a growth spurt. Our kitten is about 9 months old and he pudges up a bit here and there, then he grows, pudges and grows. Just like a little kid.
