This is what you should do,
Step 1. Go get a blanket or cardboard box and lay it on your roof.
Step 2. Go put your kayaks on the roof and put them stern to the front.
Step 3. Go to ***** buy some ratchet straps and ratchet the kayaks through the front window and back windows.
Step 4. Use rope to tie down the bow and stern to the bumper.
after you have fun and kayak.

Step 5 Go buy a rack.

Do your self a favor: buy a rack that will hold both kayaks and have it installed. If you try to tie the kayaks onto the roof and they fall off, either they will be destroyed by traffic following you, and you will then have an insurance claim to fill out, or they will rub against the car's paint and ruin the paint job and even wear some of the material off the kayaks, weakening them. The roof rack is inexpensive insurance.

you can get cardboard dunnage thats shaped like a long triangle, like a toblerone chocolate bar.it goes directly on your roof to keep from scratching.its cardboard but very strong.lash your kayak to front and rear bumpers, and pass the rope crossways through a window too for overkill if you want.
