The original word for prophet basicaly means one who speaks for someone else. The prophets of old (Biblical times) spoke what they heard from God
God no longer speaks to any human as he did the prophets of old. ANy one that claims they are speaking something knew form God (as in something that has not exsisted in the Bible) is a false prophet
A prophet today should base their teachings on what is already written in the Bible. (interptitation of what is written in the Bible may not be right this does not make him a false prophet) so we must be aware of what is the foundation of what the "Prophet" is saying and check it out for ourselves to see if it fits with the Bible.

Hi.
Let the Bible answer...: Here Jesus gives us a warning:
(Matthew 7:15-20) 15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
See by the actions.... by the fruitage that the person produces, we will know if someone is following God's way or not.
First, you need to know what God requires.... then you need to compare that with what a person is or is not doing.
discuss??

There are no more prophets, that's why we have the bible. It tells us all we need to know up to the end times. After that we will have to wait and see what God wills for us. Anyone claiming to be a prophet is a liar, PERIOD!

He should be judged on what he says and what he does. A false prophet would not live or speak in accordance with Christian teachings. The best one to judge him would be God. Pray for understanding so that you might not be deceived.

Jesus warned his followers that especially in the last days, to be aware of wolves in sheep's clothing. Not everyone that claims to be a Christian really is and will deceive you at every opportunity. Just remember that Satan knows the Scriptures too and will never fail to use them when possible. Always be prayerful.

The representative of God says nothing on behalf of himself. He speaks of God only. He behaves in a manner representing the behavior of Godliness only. His life is an example to every person, everywhere. He does not personally gain from preaching, and he has no desire for personal wealth, fame, or glory. He is the example of good qualities. He has no vices. He does not endorse anything that is not endorsed by God, nor does he condemn anything that is allowable to God. He commits no violence to any living thing, nor does he claim that he is God.

Well I guess you could pray about it. Warning signs that this is not a good situation would be if this man started asking for money, or wanted to segregate his followers from society and their families. Remember Jesus Christ preached loving one another, and not being judgemental. Anyone who tells you to do or think anything that goes against this is not a true man of God.

Pray for discernment. Whenever you hear this preacher always be mindful of the condition of the Spirit within you. Do you feel uneasy? Or do you feel confident? Test everything to the Word of God.

If he says anything contrary to scripture-he's a false prophet. If what he says lines up with scripture, he coudl possibly be a prophet.
