Don't try to change too many things all at once, otherwise you'll be too overwhelmed and quit. Try not to get all upset if you aren't perfect in sticking to your routine, just do the best you can. While it's best to stick to your routine all the time, it just isn't possible. You might get invited to birthday parties and want some cake, candy, and soda, or maybe you'll skip a workout to meet some friends for dinner or drinks. As long as you are making progress, that is the main thing.
As far as eating healthy, you might want to prepare most of your own meals, unless you don't care about cost. I've found it easier to prepare my meals in large batches, then freeze them, and make at least 6 meals at a time. If I go out for lunch, instead of going to Burger King or Taco Bell, I go to Subway and get something reasonably healthy.
Personally, I'm sticking to a low fat, low carb, high protein diet, and running 3.5 miles on the treadmill 3x/week. I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast, brown rice & beans (with tomato sauce, onions, mixed or red peppers, garlic, olive oil, and various spices) for lunch, and turkey & beans (same additional ingredients as rice & beans, except broccoli instead of peppers) for dinner. Sometimes I have whole wheat pasta & shrimp (with peanut butter instead of spaghetti sause), salmon, chicken, and occasionally beef tacos or frozen pizza, usually with broccoli on top. For snacks I might have raisins, nuts, or light buttered microwave popcorn. I haven't drank much lately, so that isn't a problem. I really like Coca-Cola (regular Coke, the diet stuff tastes awful), but I've cut it back to about once every 2 weeks. I've occasionally lost some control and bought a large bag of M&M's and finished it within 2-3 days. I don't worry about portion sizes, because I don't want to starve.
I've been eating healthier and exercising for the most part for about 8 1/2 months, except I went one month without exercise as I was recovering from a bad cold. I've lifted weights for about 5 months of this period, and was taking protein powder from mid-December until about 2 weeks ago, until I hurt my shoulder. So I'm now sticking to just running for the next month or so, and hopefully I'll be able to resume the lifting and protein powder soon.
The protein powder is incredible for increasing strength. My lifting increased by about 50%-75% on average, and although I can see that my arms look a little bigger and more defined, the changes aren't all that visible.
Anyway, the weight loss is slow, if you are expecting rapid change don't go by my advice. Also, you may not want to do somethink like my diet, but you should find something you can stick to, with foods you like to eat. I'm a male, just turned 45, and have gone from the upper 170's to about 160 in 8 1/2 months. But I think the improvement is a lot better than just the 18 pounds or so that I lost, because I also added some muscle. My big fat stomach is still there, but maybe half as big and fat. My body fat percentage has gone down from 29.3% to 23.0%. I think I should weigh about 135 (I'm only 5'5" and weighed that when I was 18, and I was normal, not fat or skinny), but if I can add a little more muscle, perhaps I can weigh 140. So I might be halfway there, or close to it.
My original plan was to lose all my excess weight by my birthday (which was March 2), but I pushed back my goal to September/October. I have a feeling I won't reach it until the end of the year, but that's fine, because I'm making progress, losing weight, and lowering my body fat percentage. Besides, it took me 26 years to put on the weight, so if it takes a year and a half to lose it that is ok.

I had the same problem, and I thought I was doomed to be flabby forever,. Here's what I did:
To deal with my food issues, I joined Weight Watchers. I really only had about 10 pounds to lose (not much, really), and I lost it plus 5 more! The best part is, I learned how to eat differently, and I am much happier. I am now 6 and a half months pregnant, and I am eating healthier than I ever did before.
As for the excercise...I know this is a pain to hear, but you have to just make yourself do it. If you wait for the motivation, it may never happen. You will actually BECOME motivated once you start. I started with 10 minutes a day every day except Sundays for a month. After that, I found I just wanted to walk or lift light weights, or do a vidoe exercise. I did everything at home with 5 pound weights and about 3 short videos.
Good luck. Just get moving, adn I PROMISE you will get into the habit and feel really awesome every time you complete a workout--you'll want to do more!

Some people say that when you are having trouble sticking to a diet the best thing to do is to diet every other day. That way on your diet days you can tell yourself it is only until tomorrow. Then on your off days you don't feel restricted. Think about it, if you diet every other day, at the end of a year you will have dieted for 6 months.
That is much better than dieting for 1 month and then stopping for 6 months, etc.

Weight watchers is fine. You do do it when you want to and if you are to busy, they don't care if you skip one or two sessions. They are devoted you. Speaking of you, God made you the way you are, if you beleive in Him, but He wants you to be happy. If you are happy as is, remember,
"don't fix things that aren't broken"
good luck
