I have noticed that as I have gotten older 30's that chips taste VERY salty, but I always loved chips, would you buy chips if they were lightly salted? I know they offer lightly salted peanuts and I buy them now. Have you had this happen to you now that you are getting older??? -)

No.

I have always had a very low tolerance for salt. Everything, no matter what it is, tastes too salty to me. However, I do not like low sodium or lightly salted products.

Salt, when added to a hot product or added during cooking, causes a chemical reaction. This is why the flavor is different in low salt products.

I prefer lower salt chips too.

Back in the early 80s my Dad used to buy unsalted chips, and I learned to really like them after a few weeks. I wish I could find a place to get THOSE now. They tasted awesome.

Wise potato chips now come in lightly salted and unsalted varieties. Lays has a lightly salted and utz comes in an unsalted kind. I also have notice this.

Yes, since I had surgery I've been on a low sodium diet so I'm beginning to be highly aware of how much salt there are in foods. A LOT, in most cases. Seems there's salt in almost everything.
