I have just bought a new laptop with Window Vista operating system. Due to some reason, I have to reinstall my windows Vista. But I wonder if the reinstallation would change or delete some of the original data, settings, or original drivers which came with my new laptop (like sound card, vedio card). I have no any other driver CDs except the Windows Vista CD.

Thank you very much.

You do not have a VISTA installation disk!

You have a recovery disk! It has all the files and drivers on it that came with your laptop!

That is a loser! That is the way they lower the price! It cost more to give you a legal copy of VISTA, and all other drivers/software that came with your computer than to just make a disk and give you the skeleton!

You cannot reformat your hard drive and install VISTA!

The question is WHY do you have to reinstall VISTA? It is a new system, take it back to where you purchased it and tell them you want your money back!

If they refuse you good service, then loud talk them so that other potential customers can here that they are ripping you off and do not want to fix their problem. Do not forget to write the better Business Bureau

On re setting up you may desire to have chosen to reinstall Vista interior the unique folder, or chosen a sparkling set up and formatted the disk. The Vista.old is of little need different than it rather is has each and all the older settings in it that possibly you probably did no longer and don't decide for. it rather is now taking on stressful stress area and so could properly be deleted

assuming you can get onto the 'net, any/all drivers will be available at the manufacturer's website (dell, hp, etc). if you cannot get onto the net, you can a) speak to the manufacturer and have a driver cd sent, b) goto compusa/best buy/any computer store and buy a usb key for ~30-50 dollars depending on capacity, take it somewhere you can get on the net (work, friend) and download the drivers you need.

unless vista is drastically different on install than every other microsoft o/s (i have not needed to reinstall on my vista machines yet), you will have the option to install over the existing partition, or reformat your drive from scratch. unless you reformat, your existing files should still be intact afterwards.

Wow, that's sounds rare that the computer included a Windows Vista CD (more likely DVD -- the microsoft bloat continues).

if you are using the CD that the retailer gave you for re-installations, then that CD has all the necessary utilities and drivers needed for your laptop. DO NOT use bootlegged software on your laptop. unless you specifically know what you are doing. If you don't have the original CD call the manufacturer.

no it won't I had to do the same thing- turned on the computer and everything was set to go... went through the box and found a vista registration cd if you don't do it the computer will start telling you you're illegal. When we loaded it though no we didn't lose a thing.

Vista is gonna kill microsoft. I've heard that you can't due a clean install with Vista for some reason, it's crazy, though there are work arounds.

If you select "Upgrade" option after running the setup, all other drivers/softwares would remain
