I live in a huge county and I am the only one authorized to remove Pit Bulls from the shelter. I deal mostly with the mother dogs. I dealt with on recently that filled my heart with love and broke it at the same time. Its hard to see a dog that is all scarred, beaten, bit all over, and in pain from broken teeth give birth to 9 pups. Still in all that pain be such a loving, perfect and proud mother. She lost five babies shortly after birth and one later due to the abuse she recieved while pregnant. The 3 that were left thrived! Such a wonderful dog toward people....but unlike what people think.... she was terrified of other dogs. Her owners had tried to fight her....she wouldn't fight. They even tried it while she was pregnant. (I have a few choice names for those people but I can't put them on here!!!) Luckly, a phone man that was up a telephone pole saw this and called.... saving her life and some of the babies that were born here under watchful care of me and my husband.
The part that is sad is..... I was allowed to screen adopters and home the 3 babies. As for her fate... the court ordered her to be put to sleep when the puppies were old enough. (The owners went to jail with a felony....because of this.)
At least this wonderful dog (Jade) was loved and cared for her last 8 weeks of life. I took her to my personal vet and held her while she took her final breath. I think she knew she was loved. Or at least I hope so.
Sooooo.. to answer your question. Yes, I love the breed. Its the ignorant people who defile the breeds name by making them mean that I hate!!!

Love all breeds of dogs personally! I have been around some sweet pits (tons of energy!) and have been around some shitty ones... I hate to blame the breed and personally think that it is all about the owner. The problem is, is that most people who own pits have a reputation of being ignorant, low-income fools who make these very sweet (but because of their musculature and build, possibly dangerous) dogs into something they are not. I will say this about the breed; I find them to be quite ugly as far as dogs go, but I've got a soft spot and even ugly dogs can be cute in some way!

You better watch out if tootincommansence is on here he will bash you and your pit bulls. Told me because I own one I am helping the dog fighting biz.
Back to what important. They are a great breed. Its to bad most people do not see this. I say if you own a Pit bull show your love for your dog by boycotting in city, county or state that ban the breed, PIT BULL OWNERS OF THE WORLD STAND UP AND SAY" WE WELL NOT TAKE THIS ANYMORE"

Yes, I love them. I had a red nose pit for 10 years, her name was Petra. She was a beautiful, friendly, funny dog. Petra got sick and I had to give her medicine to keep her alive. The day unfortunately came when her body gave out. I miss her. I loved her so much. Oh no, I think I might cry. I guess I should go hug my other dogs, that will help. Take good care of your sweet pitbulls.

Yes...I own Max a five year old tan and white with gold eyes. I have raised this pit since was two weeks old. He was abandoned by his mom. He is the best dog ever. We live in an apartment, I am a single mom. He keeps his eye on my daughter when she gets home form school. He is protective, loving, loyal, funny, all wrapped up in one dog. Yes, I love pits :-)

We have always had pittbulls, since I was about 2 yrs old, I am now 31 and have 2 pitts, 2 cats and three kids ages 12, 8 and 4. I have NEVER had any issue with them being overly aggressive. As a matter of fact, we laugh at them cause they are so laid back. They are rotten to the core, ticklish, love their squeaky chew toys and of course the kids. One lives at the vet clinic I work at, he is equally rotten and is also our blood donor, when we have to give transfusions. So yes I love them, when trained and raised properly, they can be wonderful, loving animals.

I have an unfounded fear of them,so I guess I'm on-the-fence in a weird way. I do, I think they can be great dogs, but if the owner's not around to say they're good to give attention I can't get close. No matter what I KNOW about the breed, I can't seem to get over the way I feel.

My sons both have 2 each. My eldest female has had at least 4 litters and she has been great with all of them and anyone who would go around her. There are different breeds of Pitts but if you are very loving and pay a lot of attention to them they are just like your children. They do get into a lot of things and love to chew on anything they can find so try to keep bones for them to chew on. I go to the butcher and get joint bones for them and they will last a week or so. It is all in the way they are raised. Do not however chain them up or you will see a great difference in their attitude and demeanor. Just love them and they will love you back and be your greatest protector.

yes i do! i have a pit bull named mandee she is 6 years old and is spoiled rotten! she is so smart ....if she could talk she would be human. she says "mama" gives you hugs, shakes, does circles,etc..we also have a pet bunny and a rat she thinks they are just Babbie's so she licks them, fallows them around so they don't get hurt....watches out for them.so anyone who says that pit bulls are a vicious breed i have the perfect one to prove them wrong! along with thousands of others out there getting a bad rap.i truly believe it is how they are raised but most of all its the love you give them! for all the love you give a pit bull you get back love 10 times fold.
