Of course I would want to know when... Otherwise the doctor is just telling you something you already know cause everyone dies at some time.

My mother died 3 years ago now and she didn't want to hear that she was going to die. She believed that by not knowing was best for her. And according to her wish no one told her when. (actual time from when the Doctors knew and when she died was about 4 months) She refused to talk about it or even think about it. My siblings and I tried to get her to prepare a will "just in case" but she wouldn't have it. Not that she had anything. But for things like Grandmothers jewelry. (not worth cash value only sentimental) Also to tell us where all her things were so we could take care of things after, safety deposit boxes storage locker that sort of thing. Where her brother lived and her dad
(haven't spoken to either in more than 25 years.) Any way to make it short if she knew would she have been more prepared as to have had her affairs in order for the family when she did go. Today my siblings and I are some what angry because we were not prepared for what came after her death. Sorting out her garbage finding the lost items, clearing out basements and attics of clutter. Paying her over due bills and settling her debts which we didn't know about till after they came calling. So In answer to your question "YES I WANT TO KNOW!" So I don't leave it to the grieving family I leave behind.

I am assuming that this situation is due to a terminal illness. I think I definitely want to know. I would want to spend time with my love ones. Arrange all distribution of my belongings and pay for my funeral services in advance. Spending time with my love ones means my immediate family.
Few have the opportunity to prepare their love ones for their own departure.

I would want to know, but the doctors wouldn't be able to tell me, they don't know for sure, they can only guess. I would live my life as I am now - appreciating my family and friends and enjoying every moment because you NEVER really know!

Yes, I think I'd want to know when. Some details to think about, and a choice of whether to wait for the end, or hasten it myself.

:D
