What do you do when you can't just say "It's ok," because frankly, it's not ok? What exactly does forgiveness mean, and how does one achieve it? I have been trying for years to forgive, but I have been hurt repeatedly, and can't seem to find peace. I have been talking to one of my friends and praying, and both my friend and God are helping me, but I still can't seem to let go...

You forgive by an act of your will. Sometimes it's not easy to do. Forgiving has nothing to do with your feelings. You make a choice to release the person who hurt you to God and let Him deal with it. It doesn't mean that you have to let someone continually abuse you. It depends on the situation. Sometimes you have to remove yourself from the person or take legal action. In any case give it to God, put it behind and move on.

I had the same problem one time, I finally went to God in prayer with all honesty and told the Lord I could not forgive this person so unless the Lord forgave him for me he would not get forgiven. It was awsome. I had hated this person so much that when they called or I talked to him I would get sick at my stomach (literally), after I prayed this prayer the next time I talked to this person I felt as though I was talking to a stranger, no hate, no upset stomach, God had answered my prayer and forgiven this person for me, we just have to be willing for the Lord to do this and ask him to.

Bless you

It takes a long time, and lots of effort. But that's okay, because during the long healing process you lull your friend into a false sense of security. And then, when they have themselves forgotten what they did and they least suspect a thing, you surprise them by taking SWIFT BRUTAL VENGEANCE!!!

I know how you feel, but in my opinion there are just some things or some people that shouldn't be forgiving, or forgotten.
