Labs are definitely the best way to go. I've got one keeping my feet warm right now. She is so good with the kids. They put scrunchies on her ears and dress her up. The whole 9 yards, but she doesn't mind. They are great dogs!

I would suggest to read about the different breeds and get one that fits your lifestyle. It is sad to see dogs that need much exercise with people who can't or won't commit the time and effort to give the dog what it needs. If your a couch potato, there are dogs that compliment that choice. If your active than there are dogs that suit that lifestyle as well. Life is much easier if you get a dog that likes doing what you do. Don't get too much of a dog if you are not prepared for the commitment, don't get not enough of a dog if you expect more. It is only fair to the dog as it will love you no matter what.

Good Luck

Sorry about your dalmation! That is so sad! I have a husky, but he sure was a lot of work as a puppy, and he still has a knack for finding trouble!! It's easy to show him how to do something (like shake), however, he only does it when HE wants to. My sugestion to you is, if you hear about a dog you may be interested in, research that breed on the net. If I had it to do all over again, I would probably never have gotten Timber (but I am glad I have him..he tries to be good!)

Aww! I feel for you my dalmatian is in failing health at 13 years old. So depending on what size dog your looking for and the care of the animal. I also have a golden retriever that is awesome. He potty trained himself in 4 days! And loves my 3 children. But the tumble weeds that he makes in the house even with daily brushing is a chore in itself. But they are an awesome breed...Good Luck in what you choose And I'm sorry for your familys loss

Sorry about your dog. Unfourtunately big dogs do not have the life span of smaller ones. With that said, Retrievers, Labs, St. Bernards, Irish Setters, Newfoundland (Nana in Peter Pan).

A 2 month previous doggy is a twin of a 6 month previous toddler. they merely do not get the idea of the position or perhaps as to potty yet. provide him a even as. via 4 months previous, they commence to capture on. Like youthful ones, some pups will "potty practice" in the previous and a lot less puzzling than others. the most suitable element you need to do on your own sanity, is confine the doggy to places which aren't any more as demanding to clean up, like the kitchen possibly? I used toddler gates to save pups in kitchens in the course of the day and contained in the small bathing room at evening. I easily have had some fulfillment too with those "doggy pads" you'll get at puppy shops and infrequently grocery shops. they're large absorbant pads you placed on the floor. in a great number of cases blue plastic on one part and cottony stuff on the different. merely submit to in ideas, he's only a toddler. toddlers do not extremely have administration of their bladders and bowels till they're little ones. :-) wish this helps! First of all I am sorry to hear about your Dalmatian. It is always hard to lose a pet. Before you get another make sure that you are ready for one though. We have always had really good luck with labs. They are sweet, very smart, and good with kids. Right now we have a black lab-rotti mix and he is the sweetest thing ever. We have also had a purebred rotti and again very sweet. I think it has alot to do with the way they are treated and the way you work with them to train them.

I have a great dane now-beautiful dog, but he!! in a hand basket as a baby(still is), but growing up, I had golden retrievers. They are so loyal, and the easiest breed to train I have seen so far, and my friend's father owns his own vet practice.

if you want a big dog and one that is good with kids try a lab. if you just want a dog that is good with kids then try to find a lab mix, like a lab heeler mix . if you want a medium size dog that is good with kids and fairly easy to train try a golden retriever.
