First of all, the pH of your body is variable. Your stomach is very acidic and your blood is, as has been repeated above, around 7.4. So it depends on what you would like to change. Sodium bicarbonate and antacids could never begin to challenge the buffering capacity of your blood through injestion alone. You would have to inject a lot of base into your blood vessels. Drano or some other very basic substance might do it.

Needless to say, it would not be healthy.

Why do you want to make your body more basic? Seriously, I'm curious.

It would not be a good idea to try to change your body pH. If you succeed in overcoming the mechanisms the body has to prevent this, you would be committing an unlikely kind of suicide. That being said you could temporarily alter the pH of certain body fluids. For instance taking sodium bicarbonate or sodium citrate would make your urine alkaline. Large doses of vitamin C would make your urine acidic. Breathing deeply for a while will induce a respiratory alkalosis which will be compensated by the kidneys but a low carbon doxide level and a high oxygen saturation can make you feel faint or even pass out.

If you want alkaline blood, then do nothing, your blood is already slightly alkaline at pH 7.3 -7.4. Any deviation would not be healthy.

I saw a case once, of a young lady whose pH was 7.6, she nearly died. It was caused by drinking several litres of Coke per day for a week. No other food or drink. She survived, but had severe kidney failure. Although she does not require dialysis (yet), she still needs to be monitored for several years, maybe for life. I was surprised, because I would assume that it would make her blood acidic, but the body responds in funny ways. The carbonic acid in Coke upset the CO2/HCO3 buffering system, and this lead to alkalosis.

Body fluid ph is slightly alkaline i.e. it ranges from 7.35 to 7.45 if you change your ph enzymes of your body will not do effective job probably you may mess up

How ever body buffers & also kidneys which can excrete acids & lungs which excrete Co2 which will mange ph. these mechanisms will nullify the changes of ph as & when required

Do not plan to change ph. only acid is present in stomach rest of all body fluids are all alkaline

An easy way to do it is to hyperventilate. This blows off more CO2 which is acidic leaving your blood more alkaline. However, I must warn you that your body will do everything possible to prevent you from doing this because it has gone through alot of trouble to make you blood pH 7.4 and that's how it wants to keep it.

ummm....well ur PH of blood is slightly alkaline..it is 7.4....but dont try to change PH of ur blood it is unnatural...but still if u want to do so then drink sodium bicarbonate cuz it is the natural buffer present in our body but remember one thing excess of anything is dangerous

Start drinking huge quantities of mylanta. In short order you will become alkaline and your kidneys will fail. Other than that you will not affect the acid/base balance of your body, nor would you want to based on my kidney example.

Lots of sodium bicarb but be aware that your body is designed to operate in a very narrow Ph range (7.35-7.45) and any deviance from that range can lead to death.

I don't know how to do it. But I do know that if blood pH varies more than +or- .5 from 7.4, it will kill you in a matter of hours.

Our bodies have very complex buffer systems, if the pH changes even 0.1, we will get very sick. You don't want to try to change it.
