If it's an acoustic guitar, don't do it. It will mess up the sound and the intonation.

There is a guitar company named Tokai that used to have chrome finishes on their guitars, but there really is no good way for the average person to do the same.

The thing is, chrome, or chromium, is a metal that is deposited on another metal surface through a process called electroplating, so placing the deposit on a wood surface would first require coating the wood with something to which the chrome would adhere.

That being said there are a couple of plastic finishes that could be applied by spray that would approximate the chrome effect, but the substrate (body) would need to be absolutely smooth, plus they would sooner or later start to tarnish and turn white.

If your guitar is acoustic it would completely destroy the instruments tone...if you had any left at all.

There is Chrome stray paint but in my experience it will NOT look chrome. there is really no substitute. You would have to scuff up the finish before spraying it too. I would just had highlights of things ....I just saw a show on adding designs to a guitar on DIY. The show name was Craft Lab. I would go there and search for the instructions on how they did it and also take a look at it. It would look better than what you are trying to do. It would always look like a spray painted guitar...not like something special reflecting who you truely are.

anything that can create a mirror finish is going to alter the sound your guitar makes. A mirror finish means it's not porous at all, the surface is totally sealed. Golden Paints makes a paint out of stainless steel and that has a cool metalic effect but it's not reflective.
