i am 33 years old, i live in my parents unfinished basement. My parents are old and i help them out around the house and run several times a day to get my dad his lottery tickets. My brother lives next door and has his own toilet and he doesnt have to pay rent cause his wife is pregnant. If he doesnt have to pay rent, why should I?

My parents own a duplex (my brother lives rent free next door) also, he does NOTHING to help them out-- he only lives rent free cause his wife is pregnant. (I work and my brother does not)

My brother fraked out whe he found out his wife was pregnant and quit his job. She still works. My parents asked me to pay rent after he couldnt afford to pay. I think my brother should be a man and pay HIS rent so I can save up to move out!

Normally I'd say you should pay some rent to help out,but if all you say is true,YOU are gettig the SHAFT,that brother of yours is a first class ,2 bit ,worthless, lazy, jerk off, bum, his wife should dump him to,and your parents aren't helping matters by letting him be a free loader, and doing you wrong in the prossess.

Yes, you should pay rent. You should respect your parents. You are an adult and if you lived somewhere else in with someone else, you would be paying rent. You live IN their house and use their electricity and water and other utilities. You should make some effort to pay some sort of rent. Make a price with them. Any responsible adult would do so, not say, why doesn't my brother who lives next door? That is a child saying that. You are an adult and should take the responsibility and act like an responsible adult and respect your parents and pay them some rent. I am sure you eat their groceries too. All that adds up. I am sure you helping them is a plus, you can count that in and maybe take off the water bill for that. Talk it over with them. If you lived anywhere else, you would be paying rent and you know it.

I would pay something, whether it would be 300 a month or so. You use a lot of other expenses that they have to pay along with the food that cost them a lot too. Don't act like when you were a child, be the adult that you are.

If you haven't saved up enough to move out by the time you're 33 years old, you might not have the money in your parents' lifetime. I think you and your brother are both bums for living off your elderly parents. Your brother's a piece of work to quit his job because his wife is pregnant. You and your brother should be glad to help your parents but you have no business living off them. GROW UP and GET OUT and PAY YOUR OWN WAY IN LIFE.

It depends if your parents really needs the money. If that's the case you can make other arrangements! Personally I wouldn't charge my kids rent if they help out around the house. It was kind of your
parents not to charge your brother rent, but he can also make some efforts to help his parents as well.

God Bless
