Whenever you get a sunburn that leads to peeling of the skin, it is not good. It means you have killed a lot of skin cells and have increased your chance of getting skin cancer.

Peeling off dead skin doesn't have much of a negative effect that I know of.

I'd suggest the best thing to do is avoind at all costs getting so burnt that your skin peels off. I got sunburnt many times as a teen and Geeeee it felt so good peeling off the skin..lol However I have have had two skin cancers removed in the past 2 years and my surgeon tells me that they are directly related to sun exposure during my teens.
I cannot see it doing any harm peeling it off. I would keep up the moisturising with an after sun cream, and avoid the sun in the future.
God Bless,

Sharon

It can't hurt it. When you get the dead skin peeled off, rub a moisturizing, non-scented cream (not aloe) on it.

i dont think it matters b/c it peels off anyways by itself. might as well get it over with..but you should put some aloe on it so it heals better

moisturize the area well after a shower. in the shower, use a washrag or loofah to exfoliate the dry skin -be gentle. use sunscreen and reapply frequently in the future.
