good question.
i don't pretend to be proficient in ladylike behavior, but I'll try to help you the best i can.
margaret thatcher said, "being powerful is like being a lady, if you have to tell people you are, you aren't."
1) its about presence. your posture, poise and confidence when you walk into a room. how you carry yourself, & how comfortable you are in being you. smiling, open, friendly, calm.
2) how you dress. tastefully (grandmother word) best suited to your individual style, color, etc. not austere, stiff or like your mother, but age appropriate and eye-catching, bringing your best features and body to its full potential, avoiding trashy.
being clean and well taken care of, making the extra effort to look your best but not overdoing it. natural make-up (except special occasions)
3) how you treat others. this might be the most important.
speaking kindly to everyone, regardless of age, race, sexual orientaion, religion, position, job title, etc. treating others the way you wish to be treating. putting others above yourself. graciously accepting apologies, and sincerely offering apologies. going to extra mile to make someone feel special, needed or welcome.
4) Manners. get a book about manners, something simple and read about manners and customs in your country. if you travel, find the customs, history and manners accepted in the area to are going to. ask your mom to give you one more class on table manners-- and listen this time!
5) Learn to dance.
6) being sincere. be yourself. have opinions but dont force them upon people. have interests and share them with others. LISTEN. pursue your interests, sports and hobbies. dont be ashamed of who you are! be strong. be proud to be a woman, be proud to be a lady!
good luck.. hope this helps! :-)

As a woman, I will tell you, that, yes, guys usually like gals to be ladylike. Good manners, vocabulary, etc. is what does it. Knowing how to be diplomatic in solving matters. Stuff like that. My mom is a classy lady-not a snob-very caring heart, but the way she carries herself, everything about her shouts "Classy Lady Here!".

I think that the term "ladylike" refers to a woman who has respect for herself & doesn't conform to everyone else. This is a person who doesn't exploit herself for attention, & is confident enough in herself enough to not have to act like a sl*t to find friends or 'partners'. It's probably a term that is very rare nowadays.
Just be yourself & stop worrying about what other people think. If you are asking a question like this, you probably already have it in you.
FYI- lots of men are attracted to women who are not "ladylike', but you don't want to be involved with those types of men. For someone as sweet as you, they will only cause problems.

Good manners is always a great quality! i try to always act proper, and boys like that! Plus-don't ever burp, theres this girl at my school and she burps like a man!! Boys look at her and are grossed out! I think all men are attracted to girls who act like ladies-I try to impress them with social skills-how I talk to others and how I treat them. Boys seem to like it-Good luck and always be polite to people.
