Europeans use ATMs more than Americans, so you will never be anywhere where you can't use your ATM card. Just wait until you arrive at your destination and get 100 euros before you leave the airport. You don't need to exchange any cash whatsover. You'll get the best exchange rate and the lowest fees (if any).

I wouldn't. When I arrived at the airport I'd change just maybe $20, enough to catch your train, bus or whatever and get a snack, at a money-changing desk (there will definitely be one at the airport). Then after that use your ATM card at European ATM machines to get euros. You'll get the best exchange rate that way, and it's the most convenient. Just make sure before you go that your PIN that you use at the ATM is 4 digits - that's what it has to be in Europe. If it isn't, go to your bank and change it before you go, and try to get money in the US at least once with your new PIN to make sure it works. Have a good trip!

Heres a little tip from a seasoned traveler. Always buy the currency you need in the country of origin for that currency...Why..Coz they want your currency. So you will always get a much better rate if you wait till you get there..One more tip. Do not Exchange All your currency at the Airport..Wait till you get into the city you can get a much better rate from some high street Banks...good luck
