Change the litter - it's the build up of ammonia from urine. Remove solid material daily, change at least weekly

Well, what type of litter do you use now? How often do you clean the box?
Use a clumping litter. I personally like Tidy Cat's Crystal Blend, but there are many good brands. Scoop every day or at least every other day. If you have just the one cat, you should be able to use that same litter for about a month if you scoop at least every other day. (It just depends.) Basically, as soon as there is an odor even after you've scooped, it's time to change the litter. Dump out all the old litter, and scrub the box with an old scrubbrush and hot soap and water. Let it dry thoroughly, then fill it with fresh litter at least 2-3 inches deep. I have four cats and four boxes, and follow this routine. I promise there is no litterbox smell in my house.

Use only scoopable litter. I find the best litter is Fresh Steps. It works great. You can also sprinkle baking soda on the fresh litter. You can also try an automatic litter box.

If you have a basement, put the litter box there. I first had the litter box in the bathroom but it smelled really strongly. That is, the LITTER itself smelled really bad. But now my cat makes the hike downstairs without any problems.

1.) Make sure you use good quality litter.

2.) Make sure you scoop the box at least twice a day and exchange the litter and wash the box once a week, or every two weeks at the most.

3.) Feed you cat a high quality food! Low quality foods are full of grain fillers than the cat can't digest properly and that lead to more, and much smellier, output. Good foods include Merrick, Nutro Natural Choice, and California Natural.

4.) Have one more litter box than you have cats - so if you have one cat, two boxes, if you have two cats, three boxes, etc.

There is this nifty new litter out. It's crystals. It is rather expensive but it does last for a month. The crystals absorb the ammonia smell and then all you have to worry about is scooping the doo. Also, Get a litter box with a cover on it with a door. One with a filter to help filter the bad smells. Hope that helps!

Clean out the litter at least daily. Also buy a second litter pan so that after changing the litter (I try weekly) change the pan. Clean the old one thouroughly using bleach if possible,l let it dry completely and air it out. Repeat this process often and you shouldn't even realize there are cats. If this isn't your solution maybe try changing the cats diet because this can also affect the smell.

Scoop the box daily and then sprinkle a litter box deoderizer on it. You can get this at any petstore or grocery store. Then change the litter and clean the box at least once a week. I have 4 cats and I have NO problems with odors

Charcoal does a great job absorbing odors. Put a few pieces behind the litter box. Change weekly with the litter box.

Dont kill the cat. Empty the litter pan. It has a build up of ammonia smell from the cats pee. Also, clean the litter pan everyday of solid material.

You can try a different litter, change it more often, make sure your cat gets plenty of water. If the cat doesn't drink enough water the urine will be very strong.
