I want to start dating again, and start over but am having problems seperating from a long term relationship.?

My relationship with a man has gone on for 5 yrs and its pretty obvious he is not going to comit here. He wants to call me 3-4 times a nite and wants to know where I am and what I am doing. He works all of the time, and calls me from work and believes I should spend my time off with him, but like I said, he isnt going to commit. He is still hung up on his ex wife who re married 5 yrs ago. He asked me to marry him 4 yrs ago, and when she found out, she cried and asked him how he could do such a thing without the kids knowing 1st and since then he totally closed off any future plans with me. No marriage no nothing here. I have heard every detail of their marriage problems. He is not over it.
Now I think I am ready to start with someone new. I have been dieting and actually have a very good job. I cannot seem to cut the rope here. He and I have been together at every single major event in my life. How do I start over?

like the girl said below me, both have to be on the right page, the same book. it's obvious he still cares for u, but ur looking for more, but u good do what's right for u.
start over, go shopping, treat ur self to something, and maybe while doing those things, u might met a guy, but u never now until u try and take a risk. u can't play it safe.

Well, you seem to be on the right path. At least you are not in denial about moving on. Get up and go. Go to new events with someone new and make new history for yourself. Don't waste anymore time dwelling on it. Go scoot, go on now. Do fun stuff, leave married and miserable behind. It's the past, move on.
