When I take a shower and he's still in the bathroom or if I leave a room my 8 mo old Chi cries and even howls ... what can I do to stop this? Will he grow out of it?

Do you carry your chihuahua around a lot? My son said, the breeder who sold my husband his/our 9 month old chihuahua, says if you carry your puppy around, (as many do), the puppy becomes too dependent on you for everything, and at most times will not be able to think for itself. Our 9 month old puppy, goes and finds the sunniest spot in the house to kick back, or entertains himself if any of us are busy.

Give the puppy sometime to itself with a toy, and let it walk along side you, instead of carrying it (if you were doing that a lot). As my son says, "Don't 'baby' your chihuahua too, too much".

Since you just got him, it just takes some time since he's now living with someone new. :-) Good luck with your new pup!

Hope it helps.

Yes this will stop. He is stressed over his change in environment not knowing what to make of it. Keep him close to you now and he will be your best friend later.
I made a sling for my pet so I could carry him with me where ever I went and have my hands free at the same time.

It's called separation anxiety. You will have to
go out more often so she get used to you not being there.
You might try a cuddle bone when you go out she might enjoy that.
There are things you can buy at the pet store for this. Just tell them your problem and they might be able to help.
Good luck

yes if ya let him. give him a kong or other favorite toy when u r gonna be gone or out of his sight. take it up and only give it to him when u r gone or out of sight. if ya put a little peanut butter on it he will associate yur being gone with him getting a treat and it becomes a good thing. dont baby him and make it a bigger thing than he already is. it reinforces the bad behaviour

He's still a baby and insecure in his new surroundings.
Treat him like a new baby and cuddle him all you can to give him confidence. He will grow out of the clingy, needy thing if you give him lots of confidence.

Get him a toy as a friend.
That should keep him busy.
Or maybe hes hungry....
Also... hes in a new enviorment and you are the closest thing he knows. He probably will grow out of it after he gets use to your home.

My shih tzu cried for probably the first week or so. They are not used to being away from thier mother. You would be sad if you were taken from your mother wouldn't you?
