The mormons dont believe that the Catholic Church ever had the priesthood authority to set up Gods church on this earth. They believe that due to the wickedness of the earth at the time that authority was removed. They then believe it was restored, along with Christ's original church later on with Joseph Smith.

As for beliefs mormons dont believe in the Original sin. People arent born evil or tainted and that we are all born clean and make our own sins. Mormons also dont believe in the trinity. They believe in Jesus being the literal son of God. That is a big one.

Mormons dont believe that we can be saved by faith alone because lets face it, you arent really faithful if you arent doing his works too. They go hand in hand.

Mormons believe we were born to heavenly parents as spirit children and made a choice to follow Gods plan and come to this earth.

Mormons dont believe in the same literal heaven and hell. Hell is the absence of God and heaven is the presence. They believe that we will all have the opportunity to learn of Gods plan, accept it or not and that we can not sin in ignorance and be judged based on knowledge we never had. Mormons, do, howver believe that we are all born with the light of Christ that allows us to have a general knowledge of good and evil

Mormons believe in eternal families. They believe that if you are sealed to your spouse and children by the proper priesthood authority then those family relationships will continue after this life.

Mormons believe in continual progression. This goes along with heaven hell. Mormons believe heaven is progression. That if we prove ourselves worthy then we can continue to learn more and more after we die. Hell is your progression stopping, but its not fire and brimstone and misery for all etenity.

There are sooooo many things that they differ on. If you really want to know the diff then I suggest you ask a catholic priest what they believe and then a mormon missionary or bishop what they believe.

What you should know though, no matter what anyone else says, is that mormons are christians.

Mormons believe in the exact same church established in the old testatment and new testatment. Mormons follow Christs teachings. They are taught to learn of Christ as much as possible. Mormons also believe that Christ is our personal savior and that we can only be saved thru him and because of him. I think following the teachings of Christ are more what makes you christian then believing if there is a trinity or not.

Both the Catholics & the Mormons call Jesus Christ Lord---as do the Moonies , the Jehovah Witnesses & literally thousands of other Christian tribes.Of course they violently disagree with each other--& all have their weird different beliefs. For instance Mormons believe God told a young 14 year old Joesph Smith that all the churches were all wrong--So God sent an angel called Moroni down to young Joey to reveal where a book of gold plates were that had the real "word of God" in it--hence the Book of Mormon was born. The Catholics however had a group of Bishops who voted which books & letters should compile the New Testament of the Bible-unfortunately they filled up most of the New Testament with the out-dated rantings of a self-confessed woman hating Pharisee named Paul (AKA Saul)-who gave license for Christians to disobey Christs commandments of non-judgmental unconditional love--and allowed Christians to go around seeing sin everywhere.

Mormons believe that they become gods. Catholics worship only one God. That's a good start.

A world of difference. Catholics believe that Jesus is God. They believe in the Trinity. Mormons don't believe Jesus is God. They believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers and they believe that if your good in this life, when you die, you can go be God of your own planet just like Jesus gets to. They believe God had a beginning somewhere (Krypton maybe?)
