Possibly.

I've found WinAvi Converter to encode movies faster (still requires an app such as Nero for burning)....but the catch is that WinvAvi doesn't accept nearly as many file formats successfully as Nero does.

A few online buds of mine preach the gospel of ConvertXtoDVD, plus contend that it's easier to use than Nero. I have no personal experience with it.

Instead, since Nero persists as my most reliable app, I just start an encoding before bedtime and wake up to a done disk.

Most of the software is slow. It depends on the speed of your PC and memory. It's a really time consuming process so sit back and have some tea.
