Well, I have been studying my Jeppesen CR-3 Flight computer. It tells me that it is approximately 622 statute miles and 540 nautical miles. That is good enough for what I fly.

Here is what you need for practical life...

5 miles is 8 Kms

8/5 ratio is all you need, just like most folks working hours 8 to 5

It was good enough for artillery spotting, so that should be fine for you too! :)
