My father is a retired marine gysgt, My grandfather a air force pilot, my half brother an air force pilot, and my other brother air force intelligence. Oh yeah, and my sister is in the coast guard. lol. I don't think it's wrong to join the military, I would do it, if I didn't have to move. People think that the whole world could just get along, but in reality people are jealous and want to kill us (9/11) I think having the military is great, I feel safe living near oceana, amphibious, norfolk, langely, etc...

Many people confuse the objectives of military personnel such as yourself with the objectives of the military leaders and decision-makers, which can cause some harsh looks upon those who join the military. Many Americans no longer feel that the government represents their interests, and that the army is basically the government's single power which serves to "get things done", and, if their view, in a malicious and even scary way by using incredible force. Some look at members of the military as though they feel such blind faith in the government is rightful, when it's not reflecting what they want as citizens.

At the time, I needed the money to go to college. This was my only reason for joining. I was not a patriot. I always did my best throughout my enlistment.
Thinking back on those days, I will never meet the quality of people that I met when I was in the Military. Those are people that I was proud to call friends, real friends.

well everyone is entitled to their own opiniion. Ifeel that it is your choice & decision if you would like to go for the military. The wat it is going on right now alot of -eople think that it is stupid because you may be sent to Iraq or another war infested country and possibly lose your life. Many people will say that. But One never knows when your life will end. If I ever get the chance and the guts to sign up for the military I would. You have to weigh up all the pros & cons. I personally don't think it is stupid. Just make sure that is what YOU want to do.

short answer on your question: confident. Now for the long answer. connect the militia on condition which you do not have the different thoughts. case in point, in case you probably did no longer be frequently occurring to college or won't be able to arise with the money for to extra your practise, then the militia is the final hotel of the dense and the blockheaded. If there is no different desire to your financial survival, then with the help of all means you could desire to enlist! yet attempt to stay out of the try against arms. Request an occupational area of expertise (i don't understand what they call it; i've got never been interior the militia) which will save you out of the struggling with and delivers you practise in the direction of a gainful and effective civilian occupation.

Even though I don't necessarily agree with the decisions the President Bush has made, I support all the brave men and women over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I appreciate everything that you servicemen and women do for us. Thank you. for volunteering your time, dedication, and commitment to the US Armed Forces. I'm a senior in high school, and after I graduate in May, I'm actually joining the Air Force. But, I don't turn 18 until august, and my mom won't give me parental consent. But, I have realized that my mom is just scared. She, and everyone in my family want me to go to college; but I honestly don't want to wait. I want to help my country now. My mom is just so scared that they'll send me off to iraq, the first chance they get. And now, she does realize that a recruiter can never necessarily say that I won't go to war. Anyways. I just wanted to say Thank you.

Irregardless of what people say- Military service- is still seen as a male right of passage- and yet a higher and higher percentage of men in the western world escape fulfilling it- and therefore they harbour an insecurity complex about it.
For these men, they feel their masculinity is diminished by never having tested themselves- therefore they try to demean and degrade all that have served-

People think its stupid to join now because of the war we are fighting. They mix politics with military and think anyone going over there will become a mindless killing machine. They also see that people die and are not emotionally stable enough to accept that. They don't understand that most people do it because they believe that their country is worth it. People enlisting understand that this country, in which somebody can do something incredibly stupid and be rich, this country that has given so much to all of us, is worth defending, is worth repaying for all it has given. I respect you and everyone else who has gone and I think better of myself for my decision to join in a few years everyday.

I'm not referring to decades ago - but with this war, the way
our injured guys are coming home to bad or negligent treatment
is a bit disturbing.
The Walter Reed Hopspital scandal is good example.

I don't understand this either. Just because you're in the military doesn't mean you're pro-war. We all have our own opinions on issues.
I love my country, and I love being a Marine. Regardless of my political convictions.
